Worn Wear is an awesome idea for a sub line and handling the stuff in person it seems like really great quality. Just vintage/refurb Patagonia resold by the brand.

Worn Wear - Better Than New
WornWear.com is an online store for used Patagonia clothing – helping clothes that sit idle in closets make their way back into the field, instead of the landfills. If you need a garment, you can buy used on WornWear.com (or new on Patagonia.com). If you are no longer using a piece of Patagonia clothing, trade it in at a Patagonia store and rece...
Big fan of vintage, not such a big fan of the greenwashing. Worn wear is nice but the secondhand market on grailed/ebay/thrift is way better. Sometimes you can find some of the 🐐 fleeces on Worn Wear tho so thats neat.
Agreed 100%, I just figure a lot of ppl may have a step in between vintage and new, and I think first-party repaired is that step
Absolutely, you made a good call with the rec I just have some frustrations with the brand, but Worn Wear is better than nothing (and is probably the reason other brands, Levi’s, the north face, have picked up the idea)
my issue with patagonia is that aside from like 4 iconic pieces, they make just so much dorky ass stuff
case in point the kirk cousins shirt
i feel like they were the blue print for so many cool gorp brands that do their stuff better now
What are the 4 iconic pieces?
id probably get a light jacket from them if i lived in a cooler climate.
I think they're leagues ahead of most brands in practicing what they preach
Baggies, fleeces, wading jackets, stand up shorts imo
also the baggies are perfect shorts
Synchilla, Baggies, Retro X, ???
Their vintage rugbies, double knees, and work shirts are great but often come at a premium.
they're not a 'iconic pieces' brand for me, they're a 'I have things to do outside' brand
Patagonia rhythm was a cool line, little more fashion forward
Baggies and fleeces are the 2 I was thinking of
Cotopaxi a good alt for Patagonia-like
Cotopaxi is a bit too millennial
I was thinking baggies, retro X, synchilla, and that big pocket jacket they did that story based their jacket on
I agree that sometimes the appearance of Patagonia stuff misses the mark, but damn their quality and functionality is A+.
I have 3 Patagonia jackets: 1) Jackson Glacier jacket, 2) Torrentshell 3L, 3) R2 Techface fleece.
The Jackson Glacier jacket is a great everyday coat for Chicago winters. I wear it from the 40s to the 20s. Haven't really thought about appearance since I bought it before getting interested in MFA, comfort and functionality are excellent. I have a size XL that I bought before I lost weight; planning to replace with a smaller size for this winter.
The Torrentshell 3L is a nice basic raincoat. Haven't worn it much because I haven't needed to, but when you need a raincoat, you NEED a raincoat. It can pack into its pocket, which makes it nice for travel.
The R2 Techface is an amazing fleece. It's very warm for its weight, and also wind- and water-resistant. The functionality and versatility is A+++. It's expensive, but I think it's worth it because it covers so much territory. It literally replaced 3 jackets for me. It doesn't look great, though. I wish there were more color options. I bought it in black, which I regret.
I've also been interested in trying out some of their more everyday stuff, like the baggies. I've also tried on and like the look of their Better Sweater and Box-quilted hoodie.
I got like 12 pairs of baggies
They have some that are slimmer fitting
I honestly just bought them because I gave away my outlier shorts that didn't fit and I didn't want to rebuy all that
I've got 3 pairs. They're good for my thick thighs
Their fleeces are damn nice, but I only have the fleece jacket from them. I like the standard issue tees one better personally though, simply because they're a cotton fleece instead of polyester. Not as warm or water resistant, but I also don't feel the same guilt washing it.
Patagonia is having a 30% sale
I liked the look of this jacket, it has Yvon Choinard x Prince Charles collab vibes. Seems like it has water-resistance and patination qualities similar to a Barbour without the semantic baggage of Barbour (it’s easy to remove those Patagonia Fitzroy patches with a seam ripper in my experience). And I know people like to dunk on Patagonia for greenwashing but the idea that they derived the wax from food industry waste is pretty cool imo.

Anyone have experience with Houdini Air? Looking for a windbreaker/light rain jacket for one bag travel
I have a Houdini. It's great. I wear it all the time for exercise, and it's great for travel.
Not sure whether the Houdini air is worth the extra $$$. Might be.
I wish the Houdini was a bit more breathable, esp in the arms, but it's a tradeoff.
Yeah the air is supposed to breath more I guess. Do you find the Houdini is a decent enough general jacket to wear? I'd love something comfortable enough to wear on a plane with a t shirt or walking in humid weather
You'd wear a windstopper on a plane?
I wear fleece on planes usually.
The Houdini is a super lightweight wind jacket
Very packable. Compresses down to the size of an orange
With Houdini and a fleece, you can probably handle temperatures into the mid 30s, and light rain.
The Houdini is good for exercise too. I can run when it's in the 20s with a thin base layer. I do wish the arms were more breathable when I'm running
Generally wear a fleece but I'm trying to get everything down to one 30l bag for humid weather
