Heroic Not Properly Respecting Game Launch Arguments.
So (logs arent needed) I am trying to launch a source mod (error) using the "-game error" argument. when I click play, it launches like I DONT have that argument, while if I launch through wine in terminal (which might I add, im using the same wine for launch in heroic AND my desktop) with the game arguments, it launches into the mod properly, is there a fix to this? I'd like to have the mod in my heroic library lol

(un-important, I am NOT using a steam version of portal, removed the steam stuff from my install so I can play w/o steam installed, but that is not really gonna effect anything)

you made no mention of how you've added the command line arguments, or posted logs, which would show us what you did.

but the argument in question
was "-game error" (which should make the game load files from the error directory)

the -game argument
is suppost to point where the game gets the game files
((this works just fine with wine in terminal))
so like
this * should * work the same?
(((even when running the game through non proton wine (same as is installed on my system) in heroic it doesnt load the mod, just the base game)))
an example for how i run it in terminal (and it works when I do THAT, but not in heroic) is
"wine hl2.exe -game error" and it loads the mod

I mean using

if you are in the right folder, yeah, you can do
/home/seaborne/.config/heroic/tools/wine/Wine-GE-Proton8-9/bin/wine hl2.exe -game error
what I want to understand is if the problem is the wine version your have configured in heroic

as far as I know, both of the prefixes have the same stuff on them aswell
(the heroic generated one and default)

also, within discord TOS, it restricts selling/distributing hacks (which its debatable if this is even a hack, but for the sake of this statement), this is just discussing

but think about this: somebody downloads a version of the game illegally an find this thread and gets it working, that's what I don't know
you are doing something legal, but the discussion might be in the gray area
and since I don't know how that works in relation with ToS, I prefer to wait for somebody that knows how that works in relation to discord
it's not about you and your specific case, it's about the content that is public that can be used by other users

regardless of whether its legal or not doesnt mean its good by discord TOS. Which is what determines whether they take interest in removing this server or not. So, best to play it safe, imo.

there aint anything wrong with removing the DRM on a game you own. and hell, I diddnt (and wont) even explain how either, so there is literally nothing wrong with it
the only clause in the TOS that can remotely be applied
(and I dont have the exact quote rn)
is about sharing/selling hacks, which this isnt
and thats simply for a user ban, not server
this is just as legal as noCD patches (which are 100% legal for games you own.) (and I own this game.)

what I would try is to add the game and not the mod as a game in heroic, it's not clear what else to try for me at least
I would try changing also the prefix to point to the default one, and the wine version to be the system one to get it the closest you can to
wine hl2.exe -game error that you can run outside
