You could run middleware on every endpoint including over static assets, and fetch them via

env.ASSETS.fetch

env.ASSETS.fetch

or similar, but then of course you’ll be paying for functions invocations for assets, 404s, etc.

I'm not even sure how to upgrade this, the pricing page link just takes me to the workers & pages section, but I'm already on the paid plan there

It takes highest zone plan in your account (i.e If you have 3 free sites, 1 pro, 1 biz, your "Pages plan" is biz)

no clue sorry, if it helps at all direct uploads are currently unlimited and don't count towards that (either via wrangler, or the pages action), it's just when you use pages ci/cd
