BUG: Playing a vertical aspect ratio video clips the top off and shows a large black bar between the actual video content and the player's control bar on Mac OS / Safari 16.6. Other browsers seem unaffected. Regular landscape format video also works as expected.

Hi folks ... Seems like I can not run 24x7 stream. It's stopping automatically after 5 hours. Is this a limitation or I'm doing something wrong here ...?

You can stream 24x7. I would check you settings and ensure you bitrate isnt too high and that your internet is not having issues causing disconnects.

Only limitations really for streaming 24x7 is that recordings of a 24x7 stream will be limited to the first 7 days. Disconnects can happen at any point regardless though due to many factors so make sure you reconnect on any issues.

The Mage-Web repository has examples of just doing audio. It's just using WebRTC Whip/Whep but sending audio only. You would consume that in a <video> element.

Seems like almost none of the questions are answered here (even if you ask during business hours)...support is no better since they take weeks to reply and they don't really read the questions being asked

No, Stream is an actively supported and maintained product.

Any help given in this channel is on a best-effort basis and even when employees participate it is something they do of their own choice. Everyone volunteers time to be here and help where they can (including myself), so it's understandable we can't get to every question asked. Scrolling up I see active engagement by the Stream team and community on several questions, so I'm not sure where you are getting that impression from. Apologies if I am missing something obvious!

Sorry to hear about this! Generally the response times for support will vary by plan level and for Pro and Business customers especially there is a greater demand so it can take some time to get to those unfortunately. We are always looking into ways to improve on that front.

Regarding the responses, if you have a specific ticket you are thinking of, would you be able to share the ticket number so I can take a look at what happened and see if I can help?

From what I've seen above, Cloudflare employees might only answer the <10% of questions here that are easy to answer (usually covered by docs), but everything else is ignored, which is completely understandable.

It makes sense since support should be used for difficult questions, but even those don't get a useful reply in my experience, and you usually have to wait weeks to get any kind of reply. I'm on the biz plan so I thought I would get quicker responses.

Maybe I need to be on enterprise for that but I've heard some horror stories with that too..

Not even going to bother sharing any ticket numbers or anything since I've tried that in the past to no avail...it's just a matter of getting the right people in front of it which doesn't seem to happen for anything.

Maybe my use case for Stream isn't possible so I'll look elsewhere.

Don't want to name other providers here but the main competitor to Cloudflare Stream doesn't add the frame-ancestorsframe-ancestors header, so I was looking at using that instead.

But I like Cloudflare's services a lot so I'd stick with CF stream if I could. I especially like the WebRTC support that you guys have (although it's still in beta)

Essentially my use case is that I have customers with a lot of different custom domains that will need to embed videos, and those custom domains can be added/removed at any time.

So my plan was to allow my domain as an allowed origin only, and then put the video inside of an iframe on that domain.

Inside of the iframe I check the referrer to make sure that it's actually allowed and it's one of my customer domains. If not, it doesn't display the video.

Like I said, this works with another popular service which has the same allowed origins feature.

I'm not sure why the decision was made to add the frame-ancestorsframe-ancestors header; if I didn't want anyone iframing my domain that's my responsibility to prevent it using X-FRAME-OPTIONSX-FRAME-OPTIONS or similar.

Would be happy to share more details if you need it.

Yeah the problem I have with using signed URLs is that it would have to be sufficiently restrictive enough (i.e. by IP) for me to be sure that no one else can embed my video.

If I set the signed URL expiry too short, then video playback would get interrupted with longer streams.

If I set it for a decent amount of time and allow it by country, then it makes it much easier to exploit and people could easily just take the signed URL and embed the video elsewhere.

An alternative would be if I could detect errors when the signed URL expired, and update the signed URL without interrupting playback (since it would have likely preloaded 20 seconds or so)

I'm using the Cloudflare Stream player and the error event never seems to trigger (https://developers.cloudflare.com/stream/viewing-videos/using-the-stream-player/using-the-player-api/ mentions it).

That makes sense -- I'm using the Cloudflare player so it'd be nice if that header could be removed in that scenario, but I can understand how that may not be possible.

I do want to find a way to make it work with CF Stream, so if you have any ideas I'd appreciate it.

So I was hoping to use the error event to see when that happens and generate a new IP specific signed URL

Yeah other events fire for sure

The error event is a standard video event, so maybe those types of errors don't show due to that.

In that case the docs should be updated since it says:

The stalled event works so I may just use that and try to figure out something with that.

If I use a custom player I can detect if the manifest fails to load on page load too:

Hello, is there any limit on how long you can stream on Cloudflare Stream ? We'd like to setup a 6 month 24/7 livestream for an art project. Likely a low viewer count on average, but peaks of 10-100k expected. Thanks !

For uploading videos, is it suggested to use TUS even if you're uploading from a server?

My files will be 5 GB max (should complete in under a minute with the server upload speed being fast)

Ttsmith Recordings will be truncated, but you can definitely keep a stream going 24/7!

Hello, I'm getting quite a lot of buffering and the video even stops sometimes after a few 408 errors (using HLS stream). Currently on a gigabit connexion so bandwidth is not an issue. I also get lots of quality drops. I would expect the stream to run at the highest quality possible. Can you assist ? Thank you.
