I noticed my fans running a lot more with the latest telemetry update in the f15. Probably because of the simulated g load on the y axis in turns. How hot can the motors get before it gets dangerous? They sit at around 53c in rate fights constantly.

Mine has just been delivered

Ofc, curiosity got the better of me so I unboxed it at work and just connected to see if everything was OK.

What I noticed is that X motor status was OK, Y motor was OFFLINE in the VP configurator. I did try reconnecting the PSU, engage and disengage E-stop button, nothing changes.
I had to pack it for now, will continue when I get home from work, but I'm curious can anyone get me any pointers what to look at first?

Not sure if this is a support or general thing. Are helos supposed to be force trim by default in dcs with ffb enabled? I tried the huey, Apache, and gazelle and all of them had spring feeling and return to center. The tension was different, and telemffb effects were playing, so there was telemetry

All of that is handled by each individual module. Take a look at the DCS section in the manual in #VPforce Rhino WIP Manual

it shows what needs to be set up in DCS for the force trim to work.

Just confirmed all of those options were set, and none of the modules behaved as described. Sticky spring was not enabled. Maybe I'm misunderstanding force trim, but shouldn't the cyclic remain in place when you set it with power on the blades?

You have to set up the force trim bindings per aircraft. Push and hold the force trim button (spring goes limp)..maneuver stick where you want…release force trim button (spring returns, center point where you released).

With Huey you have to flip Force trim switch on during cold start-up procedure. Before you flip it, stick will have no spring effect. It's in the front part of the centre pedestal.

(IRL) Different helicopters implement force trim in different ways (or some, not at all), and the procedure for using said force trim can be quite different between different helicopters, but, in general...

Helicopters with force trim , when it is enabled, have a magnetic brake that will hold the cyclic in a particular spot. This magnetic brake has a certain amount of spring built into the mechanism such that when it is engaged, you can deflect the cyclic stick to some degree whilst fighting against the springs, but the stick will return to center based on where the mag brake is centered.

To make adjustments to where the brake is holding the stick, you typically press and hold the force trim switch on the cyclic, which disengages the brake. Now you are free to move the stick wherever you want without any resistance. Upon releasing the switch, the brake will re-engage.

Again, each helo is different, but that is the basic principal. Some dont have force trim at all, some have it but rarely use it, and some have it and it is integrated into the autopilot system as well.

For example, my Dad who flew Huey's for 20 years says that force trim (that switch that Fourgrinder mentioned) was never, ever turned on unless flying IFR.

Which sim? (FS2020 TelemFFB/XPforce?)
Also settings look not very optimal. You can load a good baseline profile from configs/RHINO-defaults.vpconfconfigs/RHINO-defaults.vpconf
Otherwise everything looks ok (no motor faults, etc). You can also show the Debug tab content.

hello, my rhino has just arrived and I have stumbled at the first hurdle. When trying to apply the stick setting on the web interface or checking the firmware I get the follow error. I have also restared the pc, removed the rhino from device manager multiple times, no joy unfortunately. Have disconnected and closed every other device/program as well

This bug happens in Win11 with the current firmware. Managed to make a one-liner workaround, but should be fixed in the upcoming firmware release.
Open up a PowerShell window as Administrator and paste the following

Set-ItemProperty -Path "HKLM:\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USB\VID_FFFF&PID_2055&MI_03\*\Device Parameters" -Name "DeviceInterfaceGUID" -Value "{DA10CDEF-26A6-47D9-970E-B3D561A277FA}"

No I have not, but if I quit dcs instantly the stick moves back due to spring effect. If I press fly to reload the mission. Ffb is back and works until it quit again.
