Yes, but in this case, if I want to take your DB out of commision, I can just send random requests to your server. The changes won't be able to be applied, but because your server is busy handling my requests, it won't have time to handle your valid changes

Yes, because no matter how beefy your server is, Workers will be able to burst to much higher capacity than Express

What do you mean "raise with Planetscale"? Don't see how they could help you with that lol

You need to make multiple requests to planetscale per invocation/request for Smart Placement to help.
What is the "Direct Connect" option? I was trying to find it in their docs but couldn't find anything. If it's TCP Connect or not using fetch/the http interface, then Smart Placement doesn't work with that

How many subrequests are you doing per request? If its only 1 smart placement wouldnt help at all it would be the same speed no matter where the worker is just depends if the worker takes longer of if it takes the user longer to connect.
