What are the pieces that fill in the gaps for your wardrobe? How and why? What separates them from your essential?

a puzzling question indeed
Can’t go wrong with a blank tee
Black solovairs
also various hats for bad hair/bad weather
Can't think of anything off the top of my head, but I'll know it when I see it
My jacket game is pretty lacking. Could use a parka with the coming winter - it's on my list to Santa
im trying to find a necklace thatll fill in that camp collar gap. otherwise ive started to buy some chunkier sneakers. cp type of shoes would work fine but having something thats adds rather than works makes me happier with the outfit overall
Raw hem 505s to add a little something to some otherwise pretty average fits. They’re also super useful for the venn diagram intersection of ivy and workwear that I exist in
Flannels rn feels like a incomplete thought. I like the idea of them but I haven't really worn them when it was warmer. Want to be more intentional when spring rolls around and see whether or not it has a place
I feel like I have a pattern of only being able to wear something in like precisely one fit until something clicks whether it's a new item or I just put random shit on
I think "incomplete thought" is pretty much it since I'm holding onto a bunch of stuff in expectation of being able to do something with it
Discord taking the camo too far
I’m leaving it
You gotta subscribe to art+ to unlock the complete fit

Still have a lot of stuff I'm looking for. Casual cotton blazer / chore coat. Corduroy pants. Brown boots. Casual leather shoes (e.g. loafers and derbies) in brown and black. Birkenstocks. Tees in more colors. So many jackets (corduroy and glen plaid, for example). Warm shirts (flannel, chamois, wool, whatever). Overcoat. Chinos in more colors. Patchwork jacket. Fun embroidered shirt. Tie dye tees.
I think it's difficult to necessarily pin down what I'd consider a jigsaw piece that isn't also an essential
Need a bbl then I can chill
Tylorean shoes are kinda a jigsaw piece that isn’t an essential
Same with black docs or GATs
You don’t need them but they work in basically every outfit
^
ive wanted one cause i feel like itll just be that piece that makes it perfect
but also worried it wont and its just mfa whispering sweet words into my ear
It’s my fav shoe that I’ve ever bought and only 50% of this opinion is mfa-pilled
i want to get the kleman or camper ones since i probably wont wear them tooo much
I'd like to nominate my harness boots then I guess
slots nicely into making an outfit pop more vs white sneakers
Ya probably loud shoes (New Balance Tokyo Design Studios 574s or my color blocked chunky loafers) or loud jackets/overshirts.
Its hard to call loud pieces essentials, but they are essentially modified essentials that help bring things more to my style? I guess
I think that's the point though right 🤔
Pieces you wouldn't call essential but could use to replace your usuals as a keystone piece
I love my mid layers. I have a Universal Works cardigan and I love throwing it on top or under something to make an outfit warm enough for cold weather. I ordered an EG cardigan with a similar cut for the exact same purpose.
It's such an easy way to take something from not warm enough to warm enough.
Bucket hat is a great jigsaw piece that’s not essential. Scarves this time of year, especially if they’re thicc
I love my scarves.
They wrap around my neck and provide visual interest in otherwise boring outfits.
Hats in multiple shapes and colors are definitely a jigsaw piece for me. They are hardly ever the starting point of an outfit but I feel like it can really help to pull everything together. Another one is (tote)bags
