Does hitting the "-" when partitioning actively delete the partition or just selects it to be deleted when installing?

It says there must be a new root but I just wanna make sure I don't start something, do it wrong, and not be able to pull out before I really hit the big blue button.

the link they gave you was for normal fedora.

i believe you need
/boot as ext4
/boot/efi as EFI (fat32 with some flags if EFI or ESP is not an option)

a subvolume named

root

root

for use as

a subvolume named

home

home

or partition for

/var/home

/var/home

(as

/home

/home

will become a symlink to

/var/home

/var/home

)

this would be the bare minimum

no idea as i am new to fedora on desktop, only used some centos servers once in a blue moon
but in most installers when you use partitions, not btrfs subvolumes the home folder is kept if you do not format the home partition
no idea how anaconda handles this with btrfs subvolumes

Quick question. So It is not reccomended to have other partitioned os's on the same hard drive that Bazzite is installed on correct? But it's fine to have them on other hard drives in the same system.

pretty much and the bootloader for bazzite should be on the same drive as bazzite, meaning if you are a new user the easiest way to achieve this is to just make sure bazzite is the only available disk when installing and same goes for when installing windows (make sure windows only sees the disk that windows will be using)
bit harder to do that with a steamdeck but on pc you can just install the system in a VM using disk passthrough and then reboot to the disk afterwards (i do this all the time)

once the systems are installed on separate disks you can just regenerate grub using

ujust regenerate-grub

ujust regenerate-grub

and it will just add the entries for you

use virt-manager instead as its better supported in bazzite. dont know how supported virtualbox is on ostree distros.

you can install it using the command
ujust enable-virtualizationujust enable-virtualization

after reboot you run sudo systemctl enable --now libvirtdsudo systemctl enable --now libvirtd to permanently activate the service (this might have to be run again after any new major fedora release)

it will take a lot of time to install as you have to install qemu and libvirt directly into your image (this will also slow down future updates)

so the simple answer is yes? Basically have the bootloader and bazzite on the same disk. Windows can be on a separate disk, I just need to egenerate grub using ujust regenerate-grub in the terminal in Bazzite. is that right?
