If I'm deploying exclusively via Wrangler, is there a way to change the production branch? I know it's configured when I first create a project... but then in the UI, as I don't have it connected to GitHub, I can't see the option to change the production branch, unless I'm being really blind.

Yeah neither of those are good for me unfortunately. It's a hugo based website.
What's the point of using any of these services if we can't use them for full fledged websites.

I'm not concerned with the free part. I'd be willing to pay.
But it seems everywhere has either a build time limit, cpu compute limit, or page limit.
Free or Paid there is no way around it without somewhat significant development efforts if you even get it at all.
I'm currently using github actions to build my site and deploying to either netlify or cloudflare pages depending on the language.
Netlify is slow and takes like 20 minutes to upload the site to their cache Then they have the audacity to charge me for it. Meanwhile I can do the same in my testing env in les than a minute.
Cloudflare pages has a surprisingly low file limit.

Yeah, that's how they get you to go higher in plans.
You can always build in GitHub Actions and then upload. It's not really that complex.

I've less experience with workers than pages and netlify.
The automations aren't difficult. I'm already at least halfway there. I already use github actions to build the site.
But workers is significant for non developers. And just annoying due to arbitrary limits for files on pages for devs. Not to mention that it gets expensive because of request limits.
I'd have to set the worker redirects and headers up manually. At that point, I'd be better off using a traditional cpanel host.

They are different things, headers could work with some other Cloudflare tool, but fully agree there, not ideal. I'd love for that limit to be raised, but as far as I know is structural to how it's fetching assets, at the moment.

Hugo static site generator.
I have 700 articles, each with multiple images, every image has multiple optimized versions and sizes, every category and tag also produces another page as well, then include multiple json, xml, js, etc files and you hit the 25k limit really quickly.
I've been past it on my main website for some time I'm at more like 200k files now. I only use cloudflare pages now for some of the translations that have fewer pages and files. But I'm starting to reach the limit on those as well.

It's not like I run a crazy popular website.
But I'm not doing anything crazy either. I'm just implementing the best practices that everyone should be doing on their websites.
Cloudflare images is an insane cost and isn't worth it for any site IMO. It takes two seconds to convert it to better formats. And it's a repeated cost for something that is only needed to be done once per image.
Each of my articles average 50-100 views per month. So not crazy. But definitely not enough to justify incredible costs.

Looks like I've got some reading to do.
But it's incredible.
Everyone recommends static site generators and to use netlify or pages or whatever. But they just don't scale at all and you have no options other than to just "get good" and spend money like it's going out of style.
I see why everyone eventually goes to self-hosted and/or on-prem. These solutions just don't scale.
Only recommend for simple and throwaway sites.

Consider SSR? it's pretty easy with Hono. https://hono.dev

You could have your content in a CMS or KV or D1.

Either you changed the CNAME it added for you, or it did just get confused. You could manually change the DNS Record, delete the current one and add

, or delete the current Custom domain and readd it and it should be able to change it for you
