LNvm resolution was because of the wrong selected desktop session still trying to figure out the login gui showing up wondering if i re run the portal to the end it might reset to start in big picture / game mode which is what seems to not be happening i remember there being something in that mentioned if i remember correctly when it first ran.. nope didn't help either.
LAnyone know if theres a command that causes the game mode startup to happen vs the weird desktop login im getting.? I assume something somewhere got changed or something that caused it but can figure out what.
LIt's almost like whatever is set when the system is first installed to cause the steam os style startup to happen got unset some way
L@KyleGospo if you can dm me when you get this apparently i looked at the sddm.conf file and i guess it reverted back to i assume its default state for some reason everything is # out and unset i tried the ujust toggle-autologin to see if it changed anything it didn't so im not sure what is supposed to be set in the sddm.conf for the normal function of gamescope/mode on the deck but if you could just message me what the values should be i can fix the conf file.

RWould anybody know which audio protocol does wine/proton utilize to talk with Pipewire? Is it straight up ALSA (which would mean pipewire-alsa config would be effective to affect audio configuration of games run through Wine/Proton) or Pulseaudio (same story but with pipewire-pulse)?

The main thing I noticed for now (by comparing pw-top outputs when running game where the audio issues are most prevalent on OLED
:testing and stock SteamOS) is that quantum on SteamOS is 256 by default and on bazzite is 1024. Not sure yet whether this would indeed be the main root cause (or something more in-depth), but we'll see. At the very least, comparing journalctl --ho-hostname --user -u pipewire -u pipewire-pulse -u wireplumber -f outputs between the two (when running said game) yielded nothing of value (logs are pretty much the same between the two).

VI'd look up a guide on how to clone your drive for any other OS (e.g. SteamOS) because it's going to be the same process

Hthat command is correct in linux (as long as youre not botted into steamOS) assuming /dev/nvme0n1 is the SteamOS ssd and /dev/sda is the external ssd you are cloning the deck OS to
Halways triple check the if= argument (input file) and the of= argument (output file)
Hthe process will take a long time, once you are done with the clone, the easiest thing to do to fix the "size" of the disk is to open up a program called "gparted" it will detect a disk size mismatch and ask you if you want it to fix it for you and then you just resize the partitions and youre done

SI'm used to doing local overrides for upgrades when I compile stuff (like, custom Mutters and XWayland) and I know rpm-ostree can't reinstall the same package version but what about downgrade using Override?
