Xbox Controller in Heroic Launcher on Steam Deck
I am very often using my steam deck docked on my tv with my xbox controller.
But when i open Heroic game launcher, i cannot easily navigate the UI. it is always skipping one out of two button. if i am on library and go down, it will go to setting, skipping stores, then manage accounts skipping download etc...
it does this in every option and menu including the library and the same thing happen if i use the joystick or the d-pad. i have noticed this since a couple of version and update to 2.11.0 today, and the problem is still there.

Could you open up https://hardwaretester.com/gamepad on the device, press some buttons on the controller, and then take a screenshot (preferably while holding a button/d-pad-direction/etc.)?

i have run brave from steam deck menu and cannot make the website detected the controller. i also try to go on desktop mode, and connect the controller with the bluetooth option. it is connected, i can move the cursor around with the controller, but the website doesnt detected it.
also, the controller work fine in normal steamdeck menu, and in game. it is only acting weird in Heroic Game Launcher.

I can imagine something on the steam deck is triggering the steamdeck's controller too when the xbox controller is activated, sending 2 events instead of one

(we do handle multiple controllers individually, that's why I suspect something on the steamdeck is triggering the action for both controllers when one is used)

i must say this: Heroic game launcher is AMAZING. as a Linux user and a gamer, it made my life so much easier... i use it even on windows because... f#ck Epic launcher 😅

My suspicion here would be that Steam's "Steam Input" is mirroring the controller for some reason, I've actually had something similar to this happen to me (my issue was with the Steam Deck's controller and within Steam itself, restarting made that work again)

flatpack --user --override --filesystem=/run/udev:ro com.brave.Browser and i was able to get it working. here's the requested screenshot
And that's the only detected gamepad? There isn't a 2nd one below that one?

oh you're right, i have two tabs. its detecting two gamepad, and the input is showing in both . weird !
but they have different vendor id and info for some reason

the button input are showing when pushing them, but when i want to do a screenshot with steam menu R1 it stop seeing it. anyway here the screenshot of the other controller

I find that this would be more consistent if you just run the games directly as a Steam shortcut and let Steam Input take control

you really should just be launching the games through their individual shortcuts then
you shouldn't be launching Heroic via game mode
among other things, steam input or controller issues can and have happened
which is exactly what you're describing here

if i launch heroic through steam game mode, it have absolutly no problem with the steamdeck input. i'm using it to browse my game, install them, then i add the game as a steam shortcut so i can launch them directly through steam game mode.
the only problem is when the input is an xbox gamepad
or maybe other gamepad

launching Heroic through game mode also won't let you add the game as a Steam shortcut. all of that should be done via desktop mode
unless Noccer figured that out and I didn't notice

well it work for me, i do have to reboot to make them appear, but it work

I've had actual games on Steam act up due to Steam input doubling up on the controller inputs. the only solution was to disable Steam input for that game. because you cannot do that on the Deck, I don't think the same solution will work here
which turns back to my earlier suggestion of not using Heroic in game mode
however, I don't think this is acceptable by you, so I'll just leave it at that

well since i'm looking for a solution to be able to use heroic in steamdeck while its docked on my tv with a controller, going in desktop mode to start it would be counter-intuitive

that's the point, if you're just using it on the TV, the implication is that you're just playing a game
which means you don't need to launch Heroic first
anything else you're talking about here is maintenance

i think i explain my problem clearly. i wanted to bring to Heroic support team attention, that using a gamepad in heroic launcher (launch through gamemode) is causing issue with the navigation, but its not doing so with the steamdeck controller.
now if the official answer is don't use Heroic in gamemode, then fine... whatever.
i was just trying to raise an issue.

hmm...i wonder if this is from steam input , cause i had some issues aswell , that buttons were switching back and forth
but i had a ps5 controller white branded , soo i could see the switches happening
