Heroic Launcher crashing Steam Deck performance overlay

When I run Heroic (or any game installed with it) the performance overlay for Steam Deck at the top of the screen will flash a few times and then completely go away until I reboot. I've tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling Heroic with no change. The performance overlay works as expected using: 1) Any native steam game; 2) Any non-steam application that I have added (other than Heroic Launcher); 3) Any game that I have installed via the Junk Store add in. I have attached the Heroic launcher log file. I have also recorded the issue and posted here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/SyV8RX89nqXAKUUs8 Thanks for any help that you can provide!

are you launching heroic to launch a game? you should instead add the game to steam with the Add to steam option that heroic provides so you launch the game directly

Actually yes I am launching it directly now and have discovered that the problem goes away in that case. So perhaps this is only something that affects the Heroic Launcher app itself? Is this a known issue?

first time I hear about this issue, but since users are not meant to run games through heroic and I don't think the overlay is of any use for heroic itself I don't know if it will be addressed unless it's a simple fix we don't really do anything related to the overlay, steam just opens heroic

Ok thanks - I get it. The only real problem is that if I leave the overlay on (say by accident), then Heroic will crash it permanently (across all apps) and I'll have to reboot the Steam Deck.

weird, I mean, we don't do anything specific about the overlay with heroic, unless it's something electron is doing internally, we don't have any code related to the overlay in any way

Ok no problem - It's probably something very obscure. My deck is in need of a complete refresh anyway. Lots of crud that I should clear out.

I can confirm the issue though, it happens for me too I just don't know how anything we do can be causing that (the only thing I can imagine is that we force fullscreen mode when opening on the steamdeck, so maybe that's causing an issue, I don't know

I noticed the same thing yesterday when I wanted to watch stats during the game installation. Performance overlay does not work with the latest version of HGL
