I'm using the following PTC fuse to protect the Tiny Scarab board (and the PC you're plugging it in):

KThe part number is
0402L050SLIt's a PTC resettable fuse that can hold 500 mA. As per the USB standard, that should be fine. The PC should be able to deliver 500 mA on each USB port without damaging itself.
KHowever, I'm a bit worried about two things:

NI'm not a hardware expert, but based on the specifications you provided for the 0402L050SL, it appears to be suitable for protecting the Tiny Scarab board and the PC .

GHi guys, i am a final year undergrad student, Interested in embedded software, and the worst thing to happen to me recently was that i found out after a good 3 days of frustration, that one should be careful while choosing power supply for their project, a 100mV ripple can mess up internal circuitry of your sensors and you will keep wondering why sensor is generating nonstop garbage data.
