Is this for a commercial project? How imperative is it that either the source or the binary are encrypted? What are you concerned about protecting against? IP theft/cloning? Vulnerabilities? Something else?

There are commercial products like IAR Embedded Trust that provide application encryption and other security measures. And other services that encrypt binaries. Of course, those aren't FOSS..

Most mcu work on the assumption that slave disables itself on not receiving matching address. 10 bit is used in STM32 series but not all support. NACK is disabled function.

Makes sense. As well, 10-bit one can address upto (2^10)-1 devices. But come on, I haven't seen anyone using even 127 device itself on a single bus.

Curious: What was your highest? I've used 8 of them multiplexed with the same address and 8 such ones in a single bus. In SPI though I've seen designs having 64 subordinate nodes.

It's a PTC resettable fuse that can hold 500 mA. As per the USB standard, that should be fine. The PC should be able to deliver 500 mA on each USB port without damaging itself.

However, I'm a bit worried about two things:

1) The will trip only at 1A. In other words, the trip current is twice as high as the hold current. Isn't that a bit dangerous for the PC?

2) The has a R_min of . That looks okay. However, the is . The datasheet says: R 1max = Maximum resistance of device at 20°C measured one hour after tripping or reflow soldering of 260°C for 20 sec. Could this be a problem?

I'm not a hardware expert, but based on the specifications you provided for the 0402L050SL, it appears to be suitable for protecting the Tiny Scarab board and the PC .
