RThe 8000u is not a big enough upgrade over 7000u imo they might release an oled screen and hey need 32 gb as a min it might be more like the steam deck oled if anything
AThe 8000u is not an upgrade period lol. It's literally the same. Z1 has the ai cores disabled so it's the same chip
AMaybe they can get 5% better clocks or sth
ABut if we're being honest, ally is only around 20% faster than the steamdeck at 15w
AThe only reason it performs better is because they shoved more watts and better screen. But you can't do that over the ally

AI do use my legion go docked and I would get burn in for sure

AFirst, proper tdp control would be great. Then, auto tdp would be the cherry on top
AI don't think autotdp would make that big of a difference. You can play with the slider yourself it's not something crazy

RI am going to mess around with STAPM when I get home for work on the ally it’s the weekend I will do some before and after benchmarks , does anyone have a wattage etc they want to see Tested? I was going to use cyberpunk or forza or shadow of tomb as they have pretty stable benchmarks
RAlso does anyone know if it’s possible to mod simple decky to allow higher than 40watts? This is for experiments not recommending anyone should play around with bios lol

$HOME/homebrew/settings/SimpleDeckyTDP/settings.json, modify maxTDP to 50ABut otherwise, recompile the plugin with the limit set to 50.

KBash is the best, it can do it all, even 3D graphics.

RWell I am installing cyberpunk just now all the changes have been made to use stapm and 50watt tpd running fine so far , will report benchmarks
RBy the way just activation Stapm control on the ally made the steam ui even smoother
