the problem is you’re comparing something like an Audi S5 to a Honda Civic Sport as equivalents… has nothing to do with TDP or power usage really. they are very different cards like Kyle is saying.
I had a 1080TI that caused lots of issues with gamescope-session, I eventually swapped to AMD. Best decision ever, my desktop is now a nice little steam machine.
my experience with nvidia on linux from before the last year wasn't awful. it ran games, but AMD was a lot better for sure. i guess it depends on how you weigh it. you are getting a worse performing GPU than what you currently have overall but if you really want game mode, proper wayland support, and better GPU drivers right now then maybe it's fine
Issue was when I play games I can see gpu led light flickering quite unusual and I had bad experience with drivers even installed right way so linux solved that issue expect the flicker part
electrical taping over an LED is something i have done before back when my computer was in my bedroom and i ran a server from it, that stupid zotac led lit up my whole room
