Any 'off the beaten track' online clothe brands where you can buy good quality basics? (UK/EU)!
Could be a good 'library/resource' for future use/people! (at least for us UK/EU folk....soz everyone else).
Recently came across Asket, and love everything about them and their basics, especially their different length options for us short folks).
Also heard about PlainandSimple.
What other good quality brands (that either arent well-known / offer good quality) can you recommend?
Absolute bonus points if the size guide mentions the length!
I'd be a little hesitant to start looking at brands that offer £90 for a T....but I guess the more the...merrier?

I recently grabbed a hoodie from P&Co after seeing Will Halbert wearing one on Instagram. Pretty happy with the fit and construction, Universal Works stuff is decent too and you can often get good discounts on their stuff at END
Some I'm aware of:
Universal Works
Albam
Folk
Community Clothing
Percival
Reiss
Kestin
You Must Create
Son of a Stag is a good shop that stocks many of these and more.
Marrkt is also a good UK 2nd-hand site that will have all of these!
ooh yeah I'll add some Shetland sweater brands to this list: Jamieson's, Shetland Woolen Co., Bosie / Harley's of Scotland, William Lockie (harder to find). Also Howlin' as an EU brand that does really nice made in Scotland and made in EU knitwear.
+ also UK brands like Nigel Cabourn, Margaret Howell, Sunspel, Scott Fraser collection, Drake's that all do really nice stuff (most of which I would look for 2nd hand)
Seconding Marrkt, you can quite frequently see a lot of higher priced brands being sold second hand on their for very good prices
I recently learnt that Story MFG were a UK brand too. Love their stuff but will likely never be able to afford it 😅
Some fantastic recommendations here already, so I’ll just add Carrier Company. Only tried their work jackets and hats but nice stuff!
(Although make sure you check their sizing because their work jackets are one of the few things I’ve had to size up on)
Community Clothing for sure.
HebTroCo
Hiut Denim.
Carrier company.
Yarmout Oilskins
North Sea Clothing.
Old Town
SEH Kelly.
Tender
Sunray sportswear.
organic basics for tees and undergarments. search on minimalism youtube and you'll run into a discount code
All blues co
Portuguese Flannel, Isto, Norse Projects, Vetra, Danton, APC, Carhartt WIP, for some more general EU brands.
Paynter jacket
Dunno why that was a reply.
The UK has so many good companies for menswear!
More general EU:
Astorflex for suede footwear
Novesta for canvas
You asked about Colorful Standard - happy with a shirt of theirs that I have.
+ Yarmo , a small maker of workwear clothes based in Great Yarmouth.
Peregrine make nice knitwear
Almost too many :myboy:
But these are really great recommendations! 😁
Falke (Socks) - German (EU)
Schiesser (underwear) - German (EU)
Bobbies - Shoemaker (French)
Le Laboureur - known for their chore coats ( French)
All blues co
Has Harley shetlands, le laboureur among other things
Jakes London is a cool small uk brand
if you’re into traditional ivy stuff
John Simons (Ivy inspired clothes) UK
Most of these brands are known for things other than plain tees, just wanted to put that out there before you bought 100 tees from different brands
second hand prices arent unreasonable, Ive seen jackets at around 160
Haha ye I figured.
I dont be doing that. At least these are nice options to take a look at.
Could be wrong but adding 'A Day's March'
Hadn't heard of them but they look good. Very similar to Asket at first glance, a lot of nice made in Portugal stuff, decent prices. Good find
Another EU one for the denim lovers is Indigofera. Swedish company that makes their products in Portugal also. Lot's of selvedge denim, western shirts etc. They have some nice little twists on the normal western shirt. They also make some amazing looking blankets
Also worth mentioning cause I don't think it's been recommended yet, but Vinted is often an absolute goldmine in the UK and EU. I have saved searches set up for a lot of these brands, and have probably bought about 90% of my clothes from there over the last year haha
Vinted is great. Near zero amounts of legit checking though, so know what to look for
Yeah true. Not a concern really if you're looking for most of the brands listed here, but it is absolutely full of fake North Face and Jordans and such like
Yeah, the chances of someone faking a le laboureur chore coat are very very slim haha
At least in Germany, Vinted now also offers an authentication service.
Same in UK I believe - £10 to have it shipped to their verification centre, but only on items over £100 I think I read
tbh the quality on fake Jordans is probably better these days
their overshirts are fantastic. i use mine as my go-to jacket when the temp drops
Most brands have been covered by cdf, soup and tunnocks lol.
apart from those, wax london
As an adjacent q - what is Mr Porter’s own label stuff like? Seems like it’s in that spot of “elevated basics” and often goes on deep discount - I just have no experience with it
I've owned some Mr P chinos. Same with Y by Yoox. Both big luxury brand stores just using sales data from their stock sales to make targeted own-brand things to sell.
I rated both, which I bought on sale. Nice seam allowance, fits were slim-straight and true to size. However I did buy both to use a generic beaters. and that's what most of their own-brand stuff are. It's designed by algorithim and a bit boring. If you want foundational basics it's an OK shoot. If you're looking for something more, look elsewhere.
Thanks, this is useful to know!
Far Afield are also worth a look.
