Jone thing I really want to do, is set up linux to automatically boot into freedos (which doesn't support EFI) via qemu with virt extensions and have qemu be the median between conversing between linux and freedos.
JThe only thing stopping me from daily driving freedos is simply drivers, or the lack there of.
JLike this linux stuff slaps, I love how most stuff is baked in and works.

JLike have bazzite boot from an sdcard slot, all the vm stuff being baked in, and freedos is installed onto a hard drive.

JDosbox is great, I love it. But it is meant more for gaming.
JFor example, I ran the original dos quake and it ran in double speed.
Qsounds more like a job for a custom ublue image, if sticking to something similar to bazzite
