for the DIY or in general, is there an answer for how or if the rhino homes/calibrates? trying to figure out if it is able to self-centre after being powered off for a while, or if it needs to re-run a homing routine to find a limit for X and Y

so i assume that you set min/max for X and Y, and those values are stored, but after a power off and you move the stick unpowered, does it need to home first before use? most of the videos i see of it being powered just go to center, but im assuming the board is remaining powered and it hasnt lost its positional data

On power up it reads the absolute single turn encoder position. It uses the previously stored min/max as the axis limits.

im sure i remember @walmis posting about this not being a problem a while back when i got my kit, im aware there are "single throw" absolute encoders that can rotate multiple times as part of their entire throw, but i think i remember it being a software fix or something

If your system allows multiple rotations you should make sure it's within the correct rotation upon startup(ie if one rotation is 10° movement it should be within 5° either side of the center)

On a different note, I feel sure that the software throw limiter generates substantially heavier pull than DCS aircraft when I set everything to max. Is there a way to get DCS aircraft to truly use the Rhino to it's true potential? I confess I haven't yet read the WIP manual, I'm buried in projects right now.

I just completed a DIY build from Protomakers guide and plans, which I found to be excellent, and it looks like the site you posted from Gadroc has a few changes to the gimbal components and the addition of screw inserts, but is very similar, and he recommends following Protomakers guide: https://github.com/protomaker964/Rhino-FFB-Clone-3D_Printed?search=1

I swapped my base so instead of the red button being toward me, it is now to the side, effectively bringing the joystick base closer to the seat (my bum). I then swapped X and Y in DCS, but now the force trim does the opposite of what I want. It places the trimmer where the stick is, but on release does the reverse of what I want. Is there a fix for this or should I just go back to where I started with the big red button facing backward toward the chair?
