travel duffel bags
I've been looking for travel duffel bags that I can use as a carry on item.
https://www.briggs-riley.com/collections/duffle-bags/products/garment-duffle
I found this one, but it's a "garment bag". Is it stupid to buy a garment bag when you almost never wear a suit or is it still worth it?
@BlackHorizon here you go.

@BlackHorizon it wasn't that hard
ok thanks
Is it “worth it” I mean almost certainly not, a regular duffle will hold more and cost a lot less
Unless you travel a whole lot and need a crisp outfit for work I’m not sure why you would get one
Any ideas on what kind of duffel bag looks sturdy like that and is more suited?
I've looked at a lot of duffel bags and they all look like they're made of unsturdy material
The base camp duffel is very sturdy if that’s the only requirement
I've had a Patagonia black hole duffel for about 14 years and it's still going strong despite a lot of abuse.
don't like the round shape
Okay
Also it needs to fit as a carry on, I don't think the 42L fits
Not sure how to describe this but it looks like the briggs-riley bag has more structure to the bag than the blackhole and other likes it.
It probably doesn't matter, but I'd prefer one that looks like it.
I'll keep looking, but figured I'd ask in case anyone knows. My main question was if the garment bag is a bad choice or not so I got the answer for that thanks
If you want to buy this bag just buy this bag. You don't need affirmation from strangers, especially if all you want to do is shoot down alternative suggestions because they don't meet requirements you never specified.
No I asked a question and got the answer and said thanks already
By sturdy just meant I want it to hold its shape even if it's empty. Maybe not the correct term to use, but I don't know the correct term to use
was looking at duffles and came across monos, might be something to consider if you're not hauling a suit https://monos.com/products/metro-carry-all-duffel?variant=43466926915783¤cy=USD&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=US&utm_content=Metro%20Carry-All%20Duffel&nbt=nb%3Aadwords%3Ag%3A18035889529%3A141243123098%3A616267632381&nb_adtype=pla&nb_kwd=&nb_ti=aud-1945855482910:pla-2266714962380&nb_mi=127978179&nb_pc=online&nb_pi=shopify_US_7777433714887_

No it's the opposite for me, I'm not hauling a suit and was wondering if a garment bag was worth it if not.
granted i just use a rolling carry-on half filled so i can buy stuff without having to deal with checked luggage returning
I already got the answer to that question though
grab a filson
carry on sz, sturdy as hell, will keep it's structure https://www.filson.com/bags-luggage/duffle-bags/medium-rugged-twill-duffle-bag.html#sku=11070325-fco-000971912
The medium duffle is over his size limit, the small might do the job. It's not rigid but that range hold their shape pretty well the fabric is thick and strong.
isn't carry on the sz limit?
the medium was redesigned a little bit ago to "qualify" as a carry on, although I've even used my 72L field duffel as a carry on. Just depends on the person eyeing you board.
Just going by his earlier comment https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1207680846262440018/1207689134991220756, but that sounds ideal then.

the standard carry on size limit is 22" x 14" x 9"
I think it's too tall. It looks good though
It would probably get accepted as a carry on some times but it's risky if it doesn't adhere
I'm the same, i never roll the dice it's such a pain in the ass if they make you check it.
Not to mention they abuse your luggage and it gets lost some times
huh, never had that issue with a duffel since it always smushes down
@cdfchopper you’re way too nice
