Fashion media - Topic of the day 3/2/24

What kind of fashion content do you consume outside of MFAD? Any recommendations? What do you wish there was more of, both in and outside of this community?

I kinda love print media esp for fashion. Good paper with nice pictures. I haven’t actually subscribed to anything but I really like actually having a coffee table book or a few nice magazines

I enjoy some podcasts as well, it's cool to learn about the people behind the brand. Love articles of interest, also enjoy the occasional iron cast and blamo episodes

Need to check out Articles of Interest based on how much praise I've heard for it here. I enjoy hearing the Complex Sneakers Show and in general, the cultural/anthropological approach that writers/speakers like Brendan Dunne take on the matter. I subscribe to Blackbird Spyplane because of their tendency to prop up smaller brands, even if their writing style isn't my favourite. I'm interested in reading some of the great books that I've heard about like Gods and Kings, Black Ivy, and others, but I feel like my life is just about making that big backlog of stuff to consume before I go.

Yeah FSR wrapped up I found it getting a little tired and not critical enough so I'm glad they ended it on a note where they could challenge their guest

I've started reading some books. J. Crew book was super interesting. Got Ametora and Black Ivy in the queue. Other than that, it's mostly MFA, supplemented with Google searches and instagram.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND BLACK IVY sorry but not sorry for the caps, it's good as a fashion reference, a cultural reference, and imo as inspo because the fits hit 🔥 i find podcasts lately to be hit or miss - AoI and SaD are both good, as is Apocalypse Duds - but the others are either super commerical or don't flow in any sort of reasonable way

Every time someone visits me it’s the book they pick off the shelf to look at Three other coffee table books I recommend: In His Own Words, Take Ivy, and All About Yves

Is "in his own words" the margiela one? Amazon is giving me a lot of results with that title, including xxxtentacion and Clarence Thomas lol Oh wait the margiela one is a documentary

I’m wrong it’s “Ralph Lauren: In His Own Fashion.” I was literally looking at the book and still got it wrong

As indicated in the photo for the topic, Popeye magazine is pretty unbeatable. I don’t speak Japanese and it doesn’t matter - the photography and layouts are straight up eye candy 😍 i also love the Carhartt WIP coffee table book, the handful of Supreme coffee table books, and i’d like to buy the Braindead one as well. Print media rocks
