Simcity 2000 Special Edition (GOG) won't run on Steamdeck
New Steamdeck user so this might be dumb. I couldn't find any relevant articles about running this game on Steamdeck. I get the same behaviour in both Deck mode and Desktop mode. I tried a few WINE options with no difference. The graphics config launcher option will run, but the game itself just shows the DOSBOX logo for a second then closes.

Interesting that I don't see a dosboxSC2000.conf file that's referenced in the info.

You have two options for getting this game closer to working:
- Wait for the next Heroic release
- Use this version of gogdl:
1. Download the gogdl binary from here (requires a GitHub account)
2. Extract the archive and move the executable inside into ~/Games/Heroic
3. Make sure the file is executable
4. Open Heroic, navigate to Settings (Sidebar) -> Advanced and select the executable you moved as an alternative gogdl binary
Whichever option you choose there, once it's complete, verify your game files and those conf files should then show up in the game directoryextended-salmonOP•16mo ago
I tried option 2 (obviously) but no conf files appear…
I tried uninstalling the game and reinstalling too
FWIW I can get the game to run in a DOSBOX directly if I copy the game to documents and mount /home as C: in dosbox
