Hi all. I'm trying to understand something about the lifetime of Live Inputs in CF Stream:

I have a use case where creators stream frequently (daily, or even a couple of times per hour).

Is it OK to use a single Live Input per creator for a long time, e.g. a year or a month?
Or should I discourage myself from keeping a live input for a long time?

AFAIU keeping inactive live input does not affect billing.
Assume security is not a problem, I'm ok with rotating keys once a month or so.

edit: if someone is aware of resources describing best practices for this, please share them, I'll be very thankful

If you use Stream then you don't need to worry about loading of the .ts files, Stream scales automatically with many visitors.

I notice you also asked this about R2 this morning - neither of those services are throttled because of ToS, if you see slowdowns on Stream as well as R2 then it's an issue with the visitor's internet, not R2 or Stream.

The inputs are long life and for use as and when. You don’t need to make a new one per stream. I have 12 month old inputs not used in 6 months that fire up no problem

You can add it to the headers of the request which you send to get an upload url on your server side code. The header name is ‘Upload-Metadata’ and you can add values as strings to this.

I remember the live bitrate cap being something like 12mbps 1080p60. I don't think the HLS output has a source quality though, so you might have to test what the actual bitrate you get is

Though the recorded VODs I think might be pretty low bitrate, or at least they were when I tested it like a year ago. Not sure if source-quality VOD download ever happened

@JamieSinn When not using WebRTC the stream input will be re-encoded anyway, regardless of your input.

as far as I know you can use the HTML Fullscreen API to archive almost the same result, but you’ll need this after the first user interaction (e.g. when clicked on a button), you can’t open in fullscreen by just loading the page without any user interaction in most browser (except when opening an installed PWA).

Hello guys! I am George!
I am creating an application where a user uploads a video on my ReactJS frontend, I send the video to backend and then I upload it to Cloudflare Stream service using TUS.
After the upload finishes, I send the video UID as part of the backend response.
So, in my frontend I create a new component when I receive the response:

<Stream controls src={videoUid} responsive={true} />

However, initially, when the Stream component https://www.npmjs.com/package/@cloudflare/stream-react loads, I can see in my browser's network tab that a request to the bellow URL gets a 500 internal server error

https://<customerId>.cloudflarestream.com/<anotherId>/manifest/video.mpd?parentOrigin=http%3A%2F%2Flocalhost%3A4000 --> 500 error

and the video and the player do not load at all.

The strange fact is that if I refresh the page, the player loads the video and everything works fine. Any idea?
(Also I can see a CORS error on the browser's console)

Anyone else having issues with WebRTC at around 5pm UTC? It'll be fine for my 4 streams and twice now at 5pm everything starts breaking. I also use the API to check the stream status and it'll return 429 - too many requests
