I have been thinking the same about the manual. Having written some technical stuff for work and for our Simstrumentation Air Manager instruments, while I don’t like writing, I was thinking I’d contribute to the manual as well… once I get my motor kits. They passed through Prague earlier today.
The telem (any version) now giving me an issue with my antivirus (its not defender) - strangely it’s not the main install folder but an associated file!
Got the rhino working well in MSFS for the fixed wing aircraft like the Comanche - however seem to have some issues with the helicopters (mainly fly the cowen sim ones) - seem to have it all setup correctly but from the start of the flights getting the sim running for a second then it pauses every few seconds (in the telem software its showing as a green light then pause symbol for a split second) makes the sim unplayable - any idea how to fix it?
you can try increasing the telemetry timeout value in the system settings dialog.
If it is flip/flopping in and out of a "paused' state, that almost certainly means that the incoming telemetry interval is exceeding the default 200ms value periodically. The telemetry is recieved and processed after every simulation frame, which is equivalent to your frame rate.
There would be no harm, for example, in setting the value to 400ms
Yes definite flip flop but seems to run for 2 seconds then pauses for about 1/2 second - strangely only had the issue with the cowen sim helicopters - everything else seems to work ok (initially thought it was a problem with the in game helicopter assists which I switched off)
if your framerate is noticeably lower with the Cowen, then that could explain it. If increasing the telemetry timeout doesn't help (or if you have to increase it an unreasonable amount), but your framerate doesn't reflect any issue... then I would have to point at the helicopter being the problem (I don't have any of the Cowen heli's but I'm sure others do, and I haven't heard of any known issues as of yet).
Actually don’t think it’s a frame rate issue as the pauses are (I think) not accompanied by any kind of fps drop (in fact getting a higher fps on some of the Cowan helicopter) my system is based around a 4090….also only seem to get the issue with rhino connected and the telem software running - have the axis being taken care of by telem (box ticked) - but do I actually need to clear the axis binds in game ?- the issue seems also to be accompanied by the FFB effects and spring centre and force trim acting randomly…..
if you are still searching for this option for Mechwarrior, I've found that the open source solution SpaceMonkey offers telemetry data from Mechwarrior 5. So hypothetically you could get more out of the Rhino by combining that with TelemFFB.
So just had my Rhino for a few days and already the threads are going. Are they plastic? I might have put on my Virpil extension on a bit crooked to start with and now I can't tighten anything to it. I'm a little disappointed in the build quality of that tbh, and of course seriously bummed that I can't use it. Is there anyway to replace it? Preferably with a harder material..
That's a bummer, I'll mail you a replacement on Monday. It's also available as .stl to 3d print in the #knowledge-base I might add it's not a common issue, but cross threading forcefully is a sure way to ruin it.
I might be wrong here.. but dependeing on which module you´re in and how the ffb is modeled in that module you may have encountered a very realistic behaviour when the weight of the rudders is making them "hang", which would result in what you describe. How does it behave in flight? When you have airspeed and air flowing over the surfaces and pushing them to a more central position?
I have this same issue in the A-10, and it doesn’t get better with speed…..I know I know! lol. I’ve tried trimming it to centre then saving in settings in configurater but it seems to default to a very far forward stick position in game. Fwiw, most control surfaces are balanced in one form or another so there is no ‘hang” as someone mentioned. If you look at most aircraft, flight controls are neutral.
The A-10 stick has like twice as much backward (pitch up) movement as forward. Bind a normal spring joystick and watch the elevators in F2 view. This is correct behavior
Unfortunately, I'm disgusted because it's already damaged. I think it's from shipping, but the box and packaging were great. On the whole it's not a problem, I'll fix it another way.
on the other hand, where I'm really annoyed is that, unfortunately, it ruined the spinning...my fault...although metal versus resin...metal wins.
can i order another one on the site? how can i do that?
how can i get all my realsimulator buttons to work? i have selected the realsimulator in the dropdown but i am not getting full functionality...i wonder if the different firmwares of the grip play a role?
