Trying to make custom Mario sprites and am having issues

So I've been slowly working away at making the sprites, it works in the ROM and everything and its all good. The thing is my character that im using instead of mario has different sizes than him and i've been adjusting the sprite sizes as such and there haven't been any issues until now. When i make the sprites bigger now the spritesheet doesnt show up in Star Rod and it crashes. What do i do? :< This is how it normally looks like https://i.imgur.com/4Xl8cAG.png

ok so i found out in an archived channel that the sizes have to be divisible by 16 and 8 and that fixed the star rod issue, if theres anything else i should look out for id appreciate it! guess ive just been doing it by accident so far hehe

i believe if the individual files have different sizes that can lead to issues? like if an animation uses 1 raster that us 16x16 and the other is 16x24 it can do the same visual bug congarats on figuring the initial problem out yourself though!!!

These sprites are adorable! I like them a lot! Is that really an issue? I made a mod where the idle animation has rasters with different sizes and I didn't have any problems. In fact, from what I've seen, some of Mario's animations in vanilla are made with sprites of different sizes Unless I'm misunderstanding what you are saying, which is also very possible

I think specifically the widths have to match? Idk people have established a lot of "rules" for rasters and palettes over the years it's hard to tell what actually matters

Well in my case the width specifically didn't match but the height did. With all that being said I started doing this not too long ago so there probably is something similar to what you're saying that I'm not aware of Fair enough
