I'm looking to test an eGPU dock over USB4/Thunderbolt. I've got a GTX 980 laying around; do those older Nvidia cards "just work" without issue? I've heard that Wayland + Nvidia + Drivers are a mixed bag, but not for older ones. Ideally, I'd like to be able to plug in the GPU and use the built-in display on my handheld. I don't want to use an external display. I'm using the Deck image, btw. I feel like that may cause problems.
Hm, bummer. I feel like I heard the older cards worked under an open-source driver that's already in the kernel. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. This 980 is just something I've got. I was planning on putting in a used 5700 XT.
Yes it is true for all of them, however I mostly focus on documentation on the Bazzite image which is why it’s here. Desktop images of Bazzite follow the same automatic update style that the main images follow. Is it already possible to use Bazzite with Fedora 40 in testing on deck oled, or are there already known issues preventing its use? I seem to have read that the kernel is not ready yet
