strange - 1)UH60 gave it another try everything ticked and bound as per screen shot (removed the ingame trim bindings) and I get no force trim at all in the UH60 - in order to get anything I need to untick and bind trim in the in game menu and it them works again (resets the stick centre) but it kind of jumps double the movement input on the stick (but this makes the UH60 almost flyable!) - any suggestions whats going wrong? 2)OH6 mod - give it a try with this mod and ticked all the boxes as directed and the left right up down does not seem to have effect?

Having trouble wrapping my head around how and where to mount it as well as what seat will work so that I can get the stick all the way back but not have to lean forward to much when pushed forward at full deflection. Sorry, I guess I’m out of ideas to try to help you. These are basic features of the configurator software that work independently of any game or TelemFFB. Perhaps you forgot to apply the settings after enabling the features.

If the issue is too much deflection, then you can limit that with endstops, either in software or 3d printed ones. Also check out showcase topic to see how others mounted it. I struggled with it for a long time too, wanting a center desk mount and using a regular office chair.

I think "balance spring" may need some rethinking. I have a little Z extension and my Rhino mounted at an angle, which exacerbates the issue, but I think its true for everyone with an extension or gooseneck where the top of the stick, or rather, its center of gravity, does not end up directly above the center of rotation. As its implemented now, I can apply a centering force for Y and -Y, but this doesnt yield a desirable effect. At "zero" position and even slightly -Y (forward) the stick will still want to fall towards me, and applying -Y force only makes it worse.

what I would really need ,is be able to tell Vpforce at what deflection angle the stick is naturally balanced (this could be very different from center position). No force should be applied there. As you deviate from this position, a centering force would be applied that is proportional to the cosine of the angle -and this force value would be the same on all axis, as it would depend on the weight/length of the stick. The applied force would be that value x cos (angle from balance point)

I would also call that feature "anti gravity" because it sounds cooler

And with this you should be able to mount the stick 90 dgree horizontally if you wanted to for some reason (space sim?) and the stick would still appear weightless.

There are a few flight chairs with the center cut out.

Cheap version are from NLR but people say they aren’t comfortable.

Top of the line is from MTsims but you pay for it.. $700-$800+ to start. They are supposedly stupid comfy and there are some Rhino users who have them and have them great praise!

As far as mounting its as Vertigo suggested…

There are some companies beginning to include a Rhino mount in what they offer. (Some one posted one and I think it was from simfab? I could be way wrong so search for it)

But most of these fine and crafty folks are mounting them low and sort of in front of the chair (standard center stuck position).

They also mount them to the floor or a nice deck of some sort to counteract to torque forces (so they all go into the stick and not start shaking some flimsy table mount lol) and to really lock the base down nice and solid.

How you mount it is up to your rig and chair.

AND yes I’ve seen the Rhino side mounted before too and that user seemed to love it. So searching reviews and showcase will help and just check out the background of how other folks are doing it.

the nlr seat imo is about the second most comfortable seat I have apart from my couch. Granted I don't fly for hours and hours and hours, but honestly if you do I don't know of any chair that remains comfortable for that long.

That’s awesome to hear because I always hear such horrible things about them and I see people using pads and all sorts of stuff.

I think for chairs it also matters your body type.

I have a simple arcade type chair that fits me like a glove but would be horrible for a much larger type.

I’m 5’10 and 170 so I sit on the slimmer side and maybe that’s why the cheaper chairs don’t bother me as much as they bother other people.

So I guess it really also matters about your body type (and yeah how many hours will you be putting on the pad)

Age and… back issues aside lol

As far as I can tell I haven't seen any of these seats be anything but cheap, some manufacturers just charge more for them, bit like audio equipment in that regard, Don't have much size on you, just about 6' (183cm), albeit 210lbs (before breakfast

).
As for fitting the rhino, I just stacked some 2x4 to create a pedestal, and attached it straight to the floor with wood screws

haven't found the center cut out all that important, as I have mostly opted to go without an extension on the rhino.
And the Boeing pit center mount is so ridiculously high it served no function in the basic configuration.

I think the NLR chair is pretty comfortable…. the problem I have is the mounting required for the rhino in my rig places it right next to the front of the chair so the cutout does nothing for me…. joystick wise. I did mount a Total Controls ejection handle in the cutout so it does have some usefulness.

Thanks! Shall give it a try - 1)so if I wanted to save my current settings assume I just hit export then make the changes to force trim and hit save settings? (Which saves these to the device even after rebooting?)2)so is this save settings required if u change other settings such as friction?(had assumed when u changed settings such as gain and spring force these would automatically come through on the stick without having to save anything)?

thanks - but just to be clear if you select or change a setting in the settings section such as hardware trim or friction - do you always have to store settings for it to be applied onto the stick? (what prompted this discussion was that I had selected hardware trim in the software settings but it wasn't showing up in DCS - perhaps because I had not hit the store settings button to upload it to the stick?)

Might be a strange question, but any drawbacks or positives in adding a 20 cm extension? I used it on my Virpil CM2 base. I’m rearranging my mounting, and now have the possibility to use the extension. Still not sure it’s worth the hassle. Anyone with experience? I mainly fly in DCS, both helis and planes.

many people use the virpil 20cm extension or similar, or the z-extension which ends up being somewhere around 120-150mm I think. Of course, the longer the extension, the less force it will be capable of at the grip.. but it works fine with that extension size for most people
