Since I'm a big time Linux user for a long while, I don't know what could I do to put a working Windows into a USB thumbdrive which I could use for fixing thing in my Ally. Any advice by geeks here please?

I have 36GB and 128GB USB empty sticks on me now. What could I do? I need to boot into Windows in order to use Armoury Crate or g-helper for switching back my LEDs on my Ally. Can I use the recovery feature on the BIOS to install Windows into my USB stick? I have dock for Steam Deck and Ally.

But then, how do I install drivers for Ally? It seems that the drivers came from Asus Win11 during I run the factory restore in BIOS. The Windows from it has driver shipped along. I tried to download and install those drivers. Didn't work.

for the icons the issue is 100% in the user folder and might be a broken icon theme
if they cant figure it out the least destructive thing they can do is make a new admin user, log in to that use rand transfer their stuff (but not .config.config, .cache.cache or

.local

to their new user) and then at a later point remove the old user (the alternative is a reinstall)

for the pins, they can either rebase to an older image and back to stable and that might fix the pinning and give them back ostree:1ostree:1 but not sure since i have not seen anyone remove that before

I manage to move my content in 512GB M.2 2230 SSD to a 2TB M.2 2230. I moved my Linux OS from SSD to SSD easily by creating GPT on the drive beforehand. Creating boot sector. Flag boot partition. And then rysncrysnc or dddd , I forgot which one I used, all data into new drive with my partitioning.

you can replace the ssd in the ally, restore windows to it through the bios then remove the ssd and try only boot that one externally? thats what i would have done

slight update: have 95% filled sd card. issue didn't happen. btrfs filesystem still perfectly balanced. before removing option, i ran out of space at ~600-700gb of the ~950gb capacity as mentioned above due to the metadata filling up. now 99.99% sure that flag is the issue.

I have an SSD on my Steam Deck. 2TB drive. I'm considering to move it to Ally. Now, I want to migrate everything on my Bazziz3374352te to the 2TB drive first. Because downloading is a nightmare at my place. 100Mbps is still too slow.

if you happen to have a 2tb external ssd around then clonezilla off of a ventoy usb will make the transfer to a bigger drive easy and painless and make sure there's no errors. it takes longer though.

Question, does the Bazzite Nvidia image track the Production or Beta branch of Nvidia? reason being is Nvidia beta 555 branch should be releasing next week with explicit sync support which should clear up the flickering issues with Steam since no X11 in Fedora 40

Yeah doesn't look like it, startx throws errors and no session switch options on gdm either. @HikariKnight thanks Hikari, on Silverblue removing and layering the beta driver branch isn't much of an issue, but with the OCI approach on Ublue i've found layering packages that already exist in the image to be problematic.

i think i can beat that
one of my oldest big projects was over 100k lines i believe of perl scripts (although i did separate them out but i did som really cursed stuff in it)

did you know if you package a single perl script properly, you can run almost any perl script on any system without perl as a dependency and you can just chainload any dependency into the "binary" you created effectivelly running perl without perl
