it's been a bit but when someone else reported this quite a few months ago it was only possible to use the Email Routing tab if you were superadmin on the entire account, lot of those settings (addresses, workers, etc) are account-wide things

you can be the domain administrator, the most permissions you can grant a user on a specific domain, still not enough though. Need Account-wide permissions

yea CF's RBAC is sadly super limited. I just double checked and even Zone Domain Admins can't even see the tab, and looks like no account-scoped role except Admins/Super Admins can modify addresses/get past Get Started as they don't have permissions for the account-wide addresses endpoint

I am using Odoo ERP/CRM. They provide a python script which can be ran on a POSTFIX or EXIM mail server to push received emails into Odoo. Could this type of script be ran as a worker with email routing on Cloudflare, and avoid the need for a seperate POSTFIX email server all together? I don't need the POSTFIX server for sending emails as we use Mailgun/Sendgrid for outbound, I only need to catch emails and push them into Odoo.

A basic question I couldn't find an answer to:
If I use cloudflare email routing with the domain mydomain.commydomain.com I can't have another MX record. So I route a mail from mail@mydomain.commail@mydomain.com to mail@secretdomain.commail@secretdomain.com. Now if I want to answer that mail, is it possible to use mail@mydomain.commail@mydomain.com as the sending address, so no one sees the secretdomain.comsecretdomain.com address?

You don't need any records to send on behalf of a domain. You should add SPF, DKIM, DMARC records to ensure the emails arrive/aren't thrown into Spam though

Hi, all, I am new to all these, I setup email routing, and I do receive testing email, but the timing is not consisitent, one I got it right the way, another testing takes a few minutes. and the one I am expecting now still have not show up after 10 mins? Cloudflare partners with MailChannels to provide email sending w/o having to manage MX nor set up SMTP account for sending. See https://blog.cloudflare.com/sending-email-from-workers-with-mailchannels . You can write a function that POSTs to MailChannels' API. Their API works great.

If you're looking for a paid email service provider, I'd highly recommend avoiding MailChannels based on how they addressed (or rather, didn't address) the security issues in the past.

thanks @Unsmart -- yes for sending email -- we're currently using MailChannels, but really wanting to avoid AWS (that's why I'm here :). Looking at Mailgun.

CPU Time is just the time the cpu is active, it doesn't include network time. You could do a fetch() which takes 10 seconds and only consume microseconds of cpu time

Right, that's just handing it off to CF's smtp servers stuff to handle forwarding, that worker isn't doing anything, shouldn't be more then an ms or two of cpu time

sure, yea you can do a ton of stuff within 10ms of cpu time, most ideas you can think of (rewriting websites with htmlrewriter, proxying requests, having a block list for emails, etc). It's not hard capped either/you have a bit of a starting pool to make up for the first few executions being slower.
