meant to say rpm-ostree, what bazzite uses to version images, there's an ongoing investigation right now in upstream for uki support (unified kernel image), basically efi boot loader that is like a blob with all the files it needs for the OS to boot up, at the moment all the files are loose in the file system. My current gripe is not being able to do proper tpm2 decryption like windows does because of the way rpm-ostree works and its reliance on modifying kernel commandline parameters on every update. UKI should solve this, but according to github it looks like dev focus is all on bootc and dnf for image-based distros. So may be a while before this is fully functional.
