Hif they are willing to do some reasearch before buying/playing a game (a simple search) then they might be willing to try linux first.
plus if you put the games on a btrfs drive they can be used on windows anyway if they end up moving to windows later

Hyeah just make sure you get to find out what your friends expectations are.
if they are like "man i want to be able to play call of duty" then you know they will need windows no matter what if they want any of the newer ones (i belive some older ones work on linux but dont quote me on that and im too lazy to check)

Hplus launchers (EA/ubisoft/etc) will always be a bigger pain on linux even with lutris

PPlayed it today a bit via Lutris, everything works normally, even DLSS. Didn't think to check for RTX but it's fully playable without any noticeable drawbacks
LEven on the BNet launcher it was fine. Played when it was first released on my Steam Deck and Nobara at the time.

LI think another thing to consider when getting people into Linux is Lutris isn’t the only option. It does the job, but you can also just install it via Steam “Add to library” function. You’re bound to run into some space issues in the prefix, but it worked for my use-cases without ever fiddling with Lutris.
PDon't forget that Diablo 4 is in the Steam storefront now so it may work that way without any fiddling, if he doesn't have it there alternative methods will be necessary, but otherwise it might ease it for users
Klutris installer for D4 just works if you own it on BNET like I do
