sounds like just it being there by default here is enough for it to cause a support problem when somebody starts screwing with random ask ubuntu terminal commands

Oh yeah I forgot - I originally did that but switched it back later to the one in /usr. The brew one seems to be cached somewhere though
edit: rebooting uncached it and the update succeeded thereafter
