i noticed it when i tried the command that it showed it couldn't be performed because it was already ongoing

I tend to just ssh to the systems and run

ujust update

ujust update

which I believe does the same thing as running the 'System Update' menu entry. If the menu launcher isn't working, you could open a terminal and run it there as well and see if it goes that way

Yeah ujust update is the same thing as system update, it's just a shortcut
