Anow granted im not exactly the most qualified to talk about that, i only have a twitter account, but speaking from an outsider's perspective, they all seem to do the same thing (minus the decentralized nature of the last two), and twitter is bad enough, so it doesn't seem like there is much point signing up for other ones

Interlocked.Read(ref Unsafe.AsRef<ulong>(ptr) was throwing an access violation on shared memory, but regular memory access wasn't. It wasn't an alignment issue. I opened the memory with only read access, but internally that does a CompareExchange, which needs write access. Sigh...AAnyone have any ideas why blender opens with only a gray screen? Seems to be to do with the nvidia dgpu. If I force integrated, it works fine. It also worked fine with my AMD eGPU. Ran it in GPU debugging mode and there's a fair few warnings but I don't see much that should be preventing it from running. Likely a driver thing of some sorts but I'd be surprised if the OpenGL driver on the Nvidia GPU is borked as I test it often with my own programs

Pcould be a weird misconfiguration then, or maybe blender picking the wrong GPU and it for some reason not communicating with the other GPU?
Pcould look at NVIDIA Optimus settings as well

AI forced windows to pick the iGPU and it worked, but forcing the dGPU didn't - so yeah seems like that could be the case somehow
AThere's not much configuration of the dGPU but I'll look through the control panel to see if anything is amiss
AIf I plug back in the eGPU then it works again. Strange

R@Aqua recently updated nvidia drivers? Heard some games crashing on them too
Apossibly - the drivers are OEM so they update whenever there's a windows update
Ai'll have to see if i can get it working under fedora
Li'd reccomend keeping them up to date separately, since windows is always a lil behind

GI was watching a YTer who's a web dev (Theo) talking about the benefits of type safety in code their code, and how nice it is to change something and then immediately in other places where that code is uses it shows an error.
The video wasnt about this, but this was mentioned in the video.
I'm personally a fan of Theo but I just couldn't shake this from my mind: the thing he's acting so excited about and like it's so revolutionary is literally just code compilation. :kekw: Web dev discovers you can make your code NOT an untyped and unmaintainable mess, touts it as a game-changer. Meanwhile it's the single reason I avoid scripting entirely. Lol

MThere are still many javascript purists who don't wanna bother with TS and do manual type checking, or none at all (aka "in my mind")
