Hyeah, but then you have either a limb stick or a lot of friction/stiction.
BI barely touched the rhino, looked at my virpil gimbals and went "yup, done with them"

HUsually, when you have enough friction to keep it in place, you introduce stiction - can't see how to work around this.
AThat's where proper dampers/grease comes in.

AHad to fiddle a fair bit with my NXT EVO to resolve that, but it can certainly be done.
Ended up getting PG-44A for that.

Bnot saying the virpils are bad, but the rhino is all that, and more, and you have a stick that can go seamlessly from heli to fixed wing, without even having to alt-tab let alone swapping out parts
HYeah, not hitting on the virpil either. As I said - as good as it gets. But no match to proper FFB imho.
LI’ve just come from a Cm3 base this thing pisses over it big time it’s so smooth and the software is made for 8 year olds is so easy to set up.

DI agree with friends that the CM3 is very, very good, but the Rhino is really a cut above. I'm hesitating to reorder for a 2nd base (for my Vrpil Alpha stick and its role in my A320

IRealistic force trim (or force trim off) behavior in a helicopter alone is worth having a FFB stick for. I could never ever go back to a non FFB stick.
II pretty much fly the Kiowa/Huey exclusively with no force trim.
IBut I can hit one button and it turns back on and that is just so... so bad ass.
1Is the overall setup for dcs helos fairly straight forward? I hope to have the rest of the parts in tomorrow and have an operating stick!
SI'm looking forward to that so much. DCS choppers are already the best of any Sim, FFB will just make them better
RI was up and running almost right away. The only thing is that I'm used to curves, and can't use them anymore. May just need to get used to it
RI use an extension and it helped not having curves or a shorter stick
IYep. Not a whole lot different you have to do for helos.
IBeing able to let go of the stick and it stays right where you leave it is the best. Or if you're using force trim, clicking a trim point and feeling all the resistance fade away is awesome.
RI've only flown the Apache and Kiowa so far on the Rhino

RHINO #0644 Has Shipped!HThe hardest part is probably to balance out "balance spring", "friction" and or "static force", depending on your extension and grip weight, so that a trimmed stick really stays put where you place it.
CJust wondering is anyone using the Rhino with DCS F16. While I appreciate it won’t replicate the F16 force base, I’m wondering if the extra Force feedback features are worth replacing my winwing FSSB base with the Rhino?
Currently using Rhino with the vast majority of aircraft in DCS apart from the F16 at mo, and still using the Honeycomb Alpha Yoke with Yoke controlled aircraft in MSFS.
Absolutely adore the Rhino though and the effects it provides, so must admit I’m tempted to move over to the Rhino exclusively. But I do enjoy the feel of the force base in the F16, just don’t get any FFB through the stick.

CAlso one other question, I forgot to get the winwing adapter so I can use my F16ex stick with the Rhino, IF I do pick up the adaptor, do I need to keep removing it anytime I swap sticks, or will that adaptor work with everything.
I swap between the TM F16 and F18 sticks, Virpil F14 and the Winwing F16ex depending on what aircraft I’m flying. Would love to swap the TM F16 with the Winwing F16ex for the extra switches on the side but also keep the ability to just swap and change the other sticks when needed.

SAre the MFG Crosswind FFB kits already shipping or are they still in dev?
HI only have one Joystick installed at any given time, so yes, I'm using it with Helicopters, Steampunk-Jets and Electric Jets. It is certainly least suited for the likes of the Viper and I have a "special" config for it (stronger spring), but I can still appreciate effects like gun, stall, damage etc..... But if I wnated to show of the Rhino, I would pick a different Aircraft (prob F-4 or F1 and of course Helos).
COh totally agree with showing it off with the F4 or Helos, the effects with them are just stunning. Absolutely adore having real force trim now when flying my Helo.

HWhen I eventually turn on my gaming pc again - sure. However - the only difference to my basic config (the one I use with the steampunk jets) is that I increased the master spring gain and artificially decreased the calibration values to have the saturation of the stick axis increased. (Target was to have less throw and a "snappier" reaction for the viper). With the basic setup the Viper feels too sluggish.
HAdmittedly though - I haven't been flying the Viper much since I got the Rhino. I love the Viper, but my heart really beats for choppers and Iron Pigs like The F4 - especially since I own the Rhino.
1I’m sure I’ll have a really hard time then because I’ll be using a vpc 200mm extention with a warthog grip, about as heavy as it gets…
