CNAMEs on apex/root don't exist, it's against DNS Specifications (https://blog.cloudflare.com/introducing-cname-flattening-rfc-compliant-cnames-at-a-domains-root), even unproxied it's going to be flattened down to A/AAAA Records, because it needs to be.

What else are you looking for? You're not going to see any traffic in the overview because it's unproxied, site loads fine

no worries, it's a bit confusing that it just "works" but not exactly, just fun web stuff and workarounds. Enabling proxy takes advantage of Cloudflare's CDN/Reverse proxy, which can help with caching, ddos protection, etc. If you're using Vercel it has its own to a degree though. Even using CF unproxied you still get Cloudflare's super fast auth dns.
