DHey if I have windows games I want to install on the desktop side so I can get the game files (say from a GOG installer), what's the best application for that? What I do is copy the game files over to a folder and add in to Steam and configure for proton in there instead.
DCurrently I'm using PortProton to do the extracting from the .exe, happy to know if there's an easier way, and happy to use that method otherwise

AAnd just to be clear I don't care how a game does it's rendering as long as it looks good but real time rendering is more impressive because it is being done live on the hardware but sometimes like with the Nintendo switch that's not really possible like Metroid prime remastered I'm pretty sure runs at 720P or 900P locked 60FPS and looks really good but obviously it uses baked lighting and stuff to pull it off which isn't a bad thing
Ai always be more impressed to optimization done in game, just like how tf are you rendering fuck ton of entity and still manages to do atleast 60 fps if not more. it just weird to me why are you doing RT now (it is old tech) when you cant even do it without hitting performance loss

ADOOM Eternal is a really good example of a very very well optimized game that looks really good also it's RT doesn't even tank performance hard either
Kboth doom and metro are extremely limited implementations of it though
KDOOM only does reflections, and Metro only uses it for indirect lighting
AMetro Exodus Enhanced Edition uses RT for everything as far as I know

Pthe promise of having a completely new, easier pipeline for lighting isn't lost on them and the hope is that by the time it's ready we will have a generation of people ready to save time on their work by using it
