RI believe deck images don't ask you for password to login as it boots directly to gamemode
Ryou definitely should always set a password, will need it for sudo
NNo you do not, you only need it for elevated privileges
NYou should set at least a PIN though

HCatchy is Arch based and includes gamescope and a steamOS game mode. Since they work with arch and gamescope they might be able to help with your specific question
