@Robert (p5) @Kyle Gospo I guess what wasn't clear to me is, we're doing the transition now. Last night I thought it was "oh we'll have to deal with this eventually".
If it's the 555 -> 560 switch, this is based on when Negativo17 switched. We just slow rolled it because I faced some issues. If it's the proprietary -> open kernel drivers, this hasn't been done yet, right?
essentially we should keep nvidia and nvidia-legacy both on proprietary for a bit before we flip the switch on nvidia to use the open kernel module, this gives people on older nvidia images time to catch up and get the silent rebase logic in for F41, and it gives us time to test
but I think the practical answer is Bazzite has a more complicated user to cater to and it's easier for them to deal with the maintenance cost because it's better than a reviewer saying "it's missing this part vs. competitors."
@Dylan 555 was pinned down for a reason. From my understanding it was supposed to be unppined after 560 official release. But mix of 555 and 560 module/driver happened and there was no other choice.
