Or could I start out with something simpler / no upfront cost (e.g. a single worker with lots of routes tied to it)?

I know I can have quite a few routes associated to a worker (I think 1,000), it's more the DNS/zone side of things that I am curious about (do I add their domain to my account, then they repoint DNS?) and how it would work from a customer PoV / wanted to check if there was anything I was missing between the two choices.

You can't. The only exception is if you use Email Routing, in which case you can only send email to your own (authorized) addresses and only in response to an existing email coming in.

You can send email via an HTTP API through another provider, but you can't send SMTP via Cloudflare Workers sadly, nope.

How are _header files generated with Framework deploy create scripts? I'm using Vue / Nuxt for example, and it's generating this _header file, but I'm not sure how to customize it other than building, then modifying the _header file in dist/ after the fact.

Is there a proper way to hook into that process to add custom headers? Custom headers also don't seem to be actually working this way, I can't get custom headers to show up at all on the pages endpoint. I tried to add x-frame-options and content-security-policy in all manner of ways and it shows up in the dashboard for headers for that deployment, but they don't show on the request in dev tools network for example, so aren't being respected.

I see what you're saying now, I got it to work by modifying the framework responses. I thought since it was served via cloudflare, I needed to modify headers on the CF side more or less and that _headers was how that should be controlled. I'm not doing SSR, so that was a bit confusing, but even still, it's managed by the framework routing. Thanks for your insight

I see that for Service Bindings for a function call to Worker B from the parent (Worker A) I must "await" the function to prevent it being terminated early. Does this mean there's no way to execute async code within Worker B, which Worker A doesn't have to wait for completion of before returning a response? Specifically I'd like to make a secondary API call / fetch out within Worker B that should be async.

The current limit for static assets in workers is the same as pages-- 20k files, and 25 MiB in total assets size. I have not heard of any plans to bump this limit as of present
