I put a slight curve to the spring gain to make the spring a bit more responsive towards the middle position. Works better imho than the "adaptive recentering" alone.
Testing a GIM8108-8 1:8 gear motor with VPforce controller: Pros: Lots of torque at 1Nm/A Cons: Noisy, sounds like a stepper motor. But the feel isn't too bad.
Is there a good tutorial video on how to properly set the different trim functionality the Rhino has to offer? I see video showcasing the trim but nothing on how to properly set it up, thanks!
Anyone know how to properly setup the Trim Following and/or AP following in MSFS 2024?
I tried the trim following feature in the 172, configuring it as described in the manual, until the trim causes no change in the pitch (at cruise speed, with no spring and high damper)β¦ then when I turn on the AP, it canβt hold level flight, and just pitches up and down continuouslyβ¦ is there something I missed in configuration steps? Right now, I can only get it to fly normally with AP by turning both Trim and AP following off.
Just the same as you would in the sim. Press the function you want to assign and then press the button you want it assigned too. There is force trim release, reset and directional trim. With the first button, you press and hold to move the stick around and it will stay where you release the button again, with the second button you reset that trimmed position to the physical neutral point again. the other four are classical trim buttons which will increment offset the stick in the according direction. Usually though, those functions will be provided by the sim and you donβt need to apply the option in the config. But it can be necessary or preferable occasionally. I mostly (exclusively actually) use them for cyclic trim in helicopters.
Have you set bindings in MSFS? Have you set the "hardware trim" option in VP configurator? TELEMFFB configured? If so, then you should be able to trim your plane/helicopter. I haven't tried all models, but most are ok with these options (msfs). For DCS, you have native FFB (for certain machine models).
Ah little edit: the pitch trim seems not as good (bug?) as lateral (yaw) trim. I noticed this on the H145/160 but it wasn't obvious. Maybe server bugs (???)
what number did you end up at? Cruising at 110kt the default Physical=%100, Virtual=%20 seems pretty close already. You have to add a bunch of trim to get the nose to move significantly while holding the stick in a static position.
The AP seems to be behaving fine as well.
Do make sure you don't have axis bindings configured in the sim (or other external tool like SPAD). TelemFFB needs to be the sole source of the axis position to MSFS for things to work right.
Yeah I found I had to go down a bit, I was using Virtual=8%. Yes I have nothing bound for the Rhino in the sim. Looks good in terms of trim and AP following, but I was just get constant oscillations, like it was instantly over correcting.
This was last night though, and I eventually gave up and turned it off, but I can check and test again in a few hours.
Unrelated, but I find that the controls themselves are really quite twitchy in the sim, and and I havenβt figured out if thereβs a way to set curves to alleviate this.
There's no curves, but you can adjust the axis scaling. %80, for example, would mean that full excursion of the physical axis would only result in %80 throw in the sim
Is there an issue with VPforceBot? VPforceBot doesn't show any updates on my reservation anymore when using the info email command. Last update was over two weeks ago, and it said approx. 24 days.
I guess this version is (primarily) looking at the S/N, rather than specific # of rhinos pending. I.e.: It changes whenever he updates the list for dropouts/no-shows/etc.
Before I had to have mine pushed back/paused, the tracking was as follows on my end: 28.10: 125 rhinos, S/N #0954 31.10 (after swap to algorithm): ~37 to go (~23 days), #0954 04.11, 06.11, and 11.11 had the same '~37 to go', #0954 18.11: ~8 to go (~5 days), #0856
Asking again but is there anyway the Rhino can use oldsytle DX FFB. Aware Number481 said there was an absence of telemetry in CloD but there was FFB. Seems a shame a Β£5 charity shop Sidewinder works but an Β£800 state of the art unit doesnt. The FF Beast manual alludes to that unit being able to use DX FFB.
THanks for the reply Walmis. I realise there are about 6 people left in the world interested in the title but is there any hope for the Rhino? I also dont undertand whyt the Sidewinder works but things like the Rhino and Beast dont.
the amount of settings in the configurator is kind of overwhelming to be honest and I don't have a 100% understanding of what everything means. Is there a place that explains every little detail in the configurator?
Also along those lines is there anybody that has or can share their personal setups for different operations, such as helicopters, warbirds, jets, etc.?
