Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays all! >>> Asking a question to the room: Has anyone experienced "black screen" issues when connection / reconnecting to the webRTC stream from a viewer perspective? I'm trying to troubleshoot an occasional issue where a viewer may see a prolonged "black screen" when attempting to connect or reconnect to a live webRTC stream using a WHEP client. Just wondering if anyone else experienced this type of issue and has some input on how to prevent or resolve such issues. (I am using TURN server in the peer connection process) Thanks!

You use the dashboard for setting up webhooks on videos, and use the API for setting up webhooks for streams (or vice versa, I can't remember). I don't think the docs contain this distinction anywhere, could be deeply hidden

Cloudlare delay in streaming is atrocious

Sometimes it is more than 1 minute 30 seconds via obs. Even tweaking all the settings it’s just utter garbage compare to other streaming providers

When will they fix this ? People are not using your live stream to broadcast TV channels, we are in real time streaming error, maybe cloudflare product team didn’t get the memo yet

it seems like my I paid $5 for Stream and It just Free plan that why I can just use email for webhook, It stated that if I'm in zones on a Free plan, i must has at least one zone in Professional plan or higher.

Webhooks for Stream are included in the normal Stream subscription according to here: https://developers.cloudflare.com/notifications/notification-available/#stream

When I set up a new notification for Stream, the screenshot is what I see, and I add my own URL for webhook

I am using CloudFlare Stream : Live Input (webRTC [WHIP / WHEP]) services w/ Calls : Turn server. Utilizing SDK's in my API to control setup and management in my CF account. Very easy to integrate and use. Getting < 100ms latency on peer-to-peer connections. Extremely real time. Video quality is solid, and utilizes variable bit rate based on the network conditions. I server live video to a global viewerbase with minimal issues. I understand some parts of Stream are still in Beta mode, yet there are no direct issues effecting my delivery. 5% of viewers occasionally experience a 30 second black screen (no video / audio) when attemtping to connect to the stream, but I may have ruled this out to poor configuration on my end (still experimenting with STUN / TURN server setups in my client code). All in all, a solid solution that exceeds any services provided by AWS. CloudFlare is kicking butt with this one.

To add my 2cents, I have been using RTMP to deliver video to many thousands of viewers this year without issue. I have tested the LL-RTMP option and have found latency to be under 10 seconds, with quality still being great. No complaints from viewers on quality, unless we're sending an already low bit-rate feed

(we deliver from bonded 4G connections so the ingest bitrate can get crunchy at times lol)

The CloudFlare Stream service natively provides a few different output types, one of which is RTMP(S), from the broadcast channel. You can use these output endpoints to route the source stream to another service such as AWS MediaLive or other RTMP(S) ingesting services.

Thanks for replying, my problem is rather how to record the videos in the first place. Other video streaming providers come with a sdk for javascript to record videos and stream them to the streaming server. As far as I see it, Cloudflare Stream seem to require another tool like OBS to take care of recording and sending the stream to Cloudflare, so it acts more like just a streaming relay and storage service than a full video streaming kit to build video streaming web applications.

I'm not aware of a frontend SDK for transcoding to a RTMP injestion source. For this use case, you'd need to send getUserMedia tracks to a middle-man transcoding server running ffmpeg, and relaying the rtmp output to your input endpoint. You would use a websocket (socket.io) to send chunks from your client to the server for it to receive, transcode, and relay out. Did this in the past and takes some time to build into your application but does work. Latency won't be great. Probably dealing with 5 - 10 second delay based on your transcoding server power / configurations.

You may instead want to look at sending broadcast tracks from the client over webRTC using WHIP client, and send this to Cloudflare Stream. Their service will accept this webRTC source and possibly transcode it in RTMPS relay to use in the output section, so in a way, Cloudflare would be your transcoder. You need to double check if you can mix WHIP (webRTC) input and have RTMPS output work. I may have read somewhere in the CF docs that mixing two types of technology may not yet be supported in the Beta mode.

Hi, I'm uploading prerecorded video using cloudflare stream. I am getting a 400 response for certain mp4 files and im unsure why. The error response isn't super helpful

What exactly is the best service for TURN servers to support WebRTC when symmetric NAT's can't establish the p2p? Is the CDN a separate context here, and how do I figure out pricing? I'm an idiot.

Cloudflare has a TURN server you can create and use, located in their "Calls" section under TURN. You will create a server and get the API credentials to use in your backend. You will then use the endpoints they provide you, and get credentials for users using a curl request to their endpoint to request user turn server credentials to deliver to the client.

quick question about cloudflare stream watermark profiles - we're building a platform where creators can post content and we need to add their username as watermark (like "site.com/username"). but i've seen some limits on number of watermark profiles you can create. since we'll have many creators, is this the right approach? or should we look into alternatives like pre-processing videos with ffmpeg?

I’m working on a React project with Cloudflare Stream and @eyevinn/webrtc-player. The stream takes 1-5 seconds, or sometimes up to 1 minute, to load. Also, event handlers like on("playback"), on("ready"), and on("error") aren’t working for me. I’m streaming from OBS. Any ideas on how to resolve this?

Hello,

I have integrated a Cloudflare webhook to notify my server's API when a stream recording is ready. Then, I use the Cloudflare API (stream/{identifier}/downloads) to download the recording in my code.

It works correctly for all recordings, but when the duration exceeds 4 hours, the webhook doesn't notify my server's API at all.

Has anyone experienced this issue or can help me? Thanks!

I've noticed an issue over the past month or so. After streaming for an extended period, typically around an hour, the stream stops delivering video. I checked the video player on the Cloudflare dashboard and still not loading there, and OBS isn't reporting any disconnects, dropped frames, or other issues.

What's strange is that even if I stop the stream and start streaming again, the video still doesn't deliver. The only solution seems to be waiting for about an hour before it starts working again. It's a really odd problem. Times are estimates here but generally close.
