You can get up to 19 buttons out of one nano with no axes using all the available inputs. For 20+ it would probably be easier to go the shift register route. Can’t go wrong either way and the shift register is a great option too. I recommend going with whichever you feel more confident with.

Cool, i have a stm32 blue pill, and some of the pcb hc175, i think i have a box with 55 buttons. But ya for a stick would not need that much, my main thing is how it connects to the vp force mainboard

For those wondering (I was):
The hat swapping is indeed just that.
The 4+1 modules are installed by default, with the button/3-way hats simply limiting movement.

Mine arrived as well. I tried out the Alpha Prime profile but it doesn´t work. Some Buttons are not recognized and the Axis are swapped so they are not recognized properly. I´m gonna wait for a profile until I use it. I got a mousepad and a cup as a gift for the delay.

You need to turn on force feedback in the settings in DCS and use the trimming of DCS. Not the hardware trim of the Rhino software.

Hi, I'm new, here. I'm building a heli simulator and already own cyclic and collective from 737diysim.com and VKBsim pedals. The diysim controls have force trim with stepper motors but they suck (not enough force, get hot) and the pedals have no FB at all. I plan to upgrade them with the DIY kits. I've already found the software manual (https://vpforcecontrols.com/downloads/VPforce_Rhino_Manual.pdf). Is there any info avaliable for the hardware of the DIY kits?

my diy setup uses the 57blf03.. and its pretty uncomfortable at 100% spring to hold at the extremes, even with 250mm between gimbal center and grip

25 seems quite high. Im running 10lb on a 500mm extension, so 15 or 20 is certainly possible, but 25 is along the limit i guess

There's only one original "Rhino" (produced by walmis) which uses the 57blf03 motors. There are DIY designs that use the larger 86 series motors.

Stick choice - hi all now I have my Rhino mounted I need to make a stick choice, currently I have borrowed a TM F18 and wont be keeping it as I dont like the limited hat options.

I have a Wingwing ViperAce (EX) with the shaker kit and really like it and have it mapped really well in DCS, anyone using this stick on a Rhino ??, does the base support all the hats, buttons and sliders it has available ??

Pretty sure it supports everything but the shaker functionality. In order for it to work with the Rhino you will need the Winwing adapter that Walmis sells.

I'm a bit confused, the 86BLF series https://www.promoco-motors.com/products/BLDC/86BLF%20Series.pdf seems to show different specs to that listed in the faqs pages for the DIY motors. The body length is shown in the faqs page for the 86BLF04 as 94mm, but the specs in the promoco data sheet shows the motor body length as 57mm. Is this the wrong data sheet? is there a typo somewhere? Can somebody advise, as I'm trying to model these parts up.
