Browser app is reachable; API is not
hey y'all! I'm really just checking in here to see if this is a super common issue. I'm hosting on my home PC and can access the web interface from my iphone via /[public IP]:2283/, but when i try plugging /[public IP]:2283/api into the mobile app it just snap responds "server is not reachable."

do i need to downgrade my server version to match the mobile app..?
First, you should really not be port forwarding immich directly. It runs over http and is insecure. Everything is being sent plain text. Please do everything over local ip unless you have a vpn and a reverse proxy with SSL
What version of mobile app and server do you have?
app v is 1.124.0, server is 1.124.2
That's fine
ah ok noted
Please test over local ip, and if you are using an apple device, validate allow local network connections for immich is checked
i'll test api over local when i'm home. (currently not on the same network as my server). Of note: when i go to API from the browser, /[public-ip]:2283/api, this is what appears. not sure if this is normal or not

Yes that's normal, there is no api endpoint directly
guess i'll test when i'm home then. does immich block api calls over public network, or is it just bad practice? 😅
It won't block them. But yes very bad practice. All network requests when doing this are sent in plain text. Passwords, images, and any other data can be easily read
Update: WRONG_VERSION_NUMBER in client. (iOS version number…? server version number..?)

either way, i’ve brought server down to 1.124.0, no improvement.
update: resolved. I had to prefix the HTTP:// in front of the ip address in immich app.....
[ip]:2283/api fails
http://[ip]:2283/api succeeds
Sorry, thought you just removed that for brevity. Yes you need http(s) in front of the url
silly of me :) i am of a different era. where such things are taken wholly for granted
