21_21 is a really cool design museum
All the employees are dressed head to toe in issey pleats
i’m gonna assume you’ve searched for kyoto and tokyo and osaka in the threads
lemme dm you my lists
:discourse: which threads
And I don't care if it's insta bait I'm a fan of teamlabs
Planets and borderless
Don't go to the Osaka one it's boring

this is close to where we're staying. might be a nice first day hit
Yea it's more a museum than any sort of issey thing, but it was very cool
When I went it was all about poop and closed loop systems lmao
lmao
They had this thing that made a loud noise every time someone went into the washroom
How into weeb shit are you?
not really
Ok then I will not recommend you the club known for playing anime music
LMAO
lol
There's a really cool speakeasy in Osaka called bar nayuta
ooh i have this on a couple lists lol
Obv go to Kapital (probably the daikanyama/ebisu one in Tokyo, though the Kyoto one is cool too). If you're interested in going to Nepenthes I thought the Osaka one was better/nicer than the Tokyo one and it's in a lovely neighborhood with some good bars and eating.
I would highly recommend trying to get into the countryside for a day or two. Just different vibes.
Glitch coffee is a must after proxying it with casey! I bet some of the other coffee nerds will have more recs.
I’d maybe do some research on good antique stores. I like to bring back one or two nice things when I travel as a memento.
And japan has beautiful antiques
KOFFEE MAMEYA as well
Koenji district in Tokyo for vintage. Especially Whistler for ivy stuff (more tweed jackets than I have ever seen in my life). Also Big Time for vintage (chain, multiple locations). Un-ironically, go to a Levis store (way, way better than in the states)
Glitch is good, I think the osaka one is nicer than the tokyo one, as its bigger and more spacious. Weekenders coffee in kyoto also nice
The Osaka glitch is one of the coolest coffee shops I have ever been to
looks like a nice space. might have to check out that area of osaka, i don't have much pinned aroudn there
When I had downtime there I wandered up the steeet with all the denim shops and it kinda ends near glitch
From memory its on an island with a load of museums and stuff
I'd also rep Koenji, Whistler and the Safari stores. The trick with Whistler is the main entrace is ivy coded but there's a side entrance that you'd miss that goes upstairs, is way bigger, and is where all the milsurp and workwear is hiding.
Safari have multiple locations all dedicated to different types of vintage. There's a dedicated Ralph store with some reasonably priced RRL.
Brycelands and Nepenthes are within walking distance of each other. Nepenthes def worth a visit for any EG / Needles head.
There are three Kapital stores next to each other in Ebisu. Kapital Legs was the most fun, has all the century denim and boro and the staff were young and a little nuts. Duffle had a wide selection and was reasonably quiet. The mainline Kapital store was crowded and didn't seem to have anything more than Duffle / Legs and didn't have any century denim.
Hinoya
A few milsurp stores around ameyokocho
Basically any brand of denim or whatever has a store in Tokyo
Okura stocks most of the Blue Blue line
Iron Heart domestic is way cheaper than the export market but you have to haul out to Hachioji
Veg:
Ome Farm Kitchen is great
Komeda Is has mostly plant based
I’ve eaten at a few of these and it’s largely been good https://www.happycow.net/best-vegan-restaurants/tokyo-japan
tons of third wave coffee around but go for a showa kissaten or a jazz kissa for vibes you aren’t going to get back home. be aware lots of them allow smoking

oh and north face purple label if you’re gorp
I’ve been into quadro/sot lately. worth a visit if you like minimal/muji type things
ABC-marts especially around Ueno carry MIJ chucks and japan limited colors of nike and can speak enough english to sell them to you
dm me if you have questions or are in a bind and i will try to help out
glitch is so so and the clientele is annoying af. try akha ama or ammonite
Thanks for these! Will be nice to have a list all in one place i can come back to look thru
