Chinos with pleats in center/casual outfits
Looking at the WAYWT, I notice that there aren't many outfits with dress chinos and casual shirts or T-shirts. I wonder if it's a cardinal sin to do this.

ivy style and prep does this all the time. it's just not currently as popular because the ALD trend was a few years ago
menswear also love ironing a crease into any pants, including chinos and denim
look at Drake's, ALD, No Man Walks Alone, Todd Snyder, The Armoury, etc

You might also just have better luck looking through StyleForum and other more strictly menswear focused communities for that specific kind of inspo
if by casual shirts you just mean like flannels or camp collar shirts, people wear creased trousers with those all the time
maybe less so for tees

Literally this
And I don't know what shoes to wear
There's a reason why I'm wearing the orange shirt
what color are those chinos? black
that’s kind of a nonstarter to begin with
look up past fits from
@ squilly_cash
or @artvandelayexporting
whatalr stop doing menswar prescriptive advice lol
its just been nonstop rules from u
how is it rules to point out that black chinos make you look like you work at applebees
yeah nah we're not doing this
who’s we
Yes they are black
:timer: @animus has been timed out for 1 day. :timer:
anyway
There's a game today and these are the team colors
I have no idea what to do with this outfit
Feels like I'm trying too hard
it is hard to tell what any of these clothes look like on you from a top down angle
Let me see something
it’s not a cardinal sin to wear a t or casual shirt w dressier bottoms
look at the links awz shared and in waywt or waywt highlights

I'm at an impasse
This would look better without the longsleeve underneath tbh.
Wanting to dress in team colours is good, but sometimes with a restriction like that you've got to be ok with tossing "looking absolutely great by fashion standards" out the window and that's fine and good to do for a fun day of supporting a team.
You're 100% right
I might just go with this for today just because, but in general my sense of style is cooked
I need to really start looking at the WAYWTs. I want to wear wider pants, slimmer tops and shoes like Stan Smiths (which I wear all the time). But beyond this I don't know what else would look good on me
Like minimalism
Fr just look at waywt and identify what you like in fits
Then do that
And be open to asking people for ID on pieces or styling tips they use, people like talking about their fits and it can be helpful to understand the thought process behind fits you really like
when looking at #waywt or #inspiration try to remove whatever biases you have about what's trendy/what would look good on you; focus on what you think is cool
I thought I could get a good dating app pic out of this outfit. Between how sloppy it looks and my friends subpar photography skills, I was in over my head

just fyi we don't really do dating app talk or profile reviews here
maybe just enjoy the game for what it is, smth fun
the things you do, the things you like and value, these are the things that ultimately form your personal style and by extension what you'd want to convey on a dating app
I get it, I just don't know where to ask for advice because nobody wants to help me. Clothes and style are important, how pictures are taken are important. The WAYWT pics are so well taken that I get envious of how everyone found their style. I have work to do
Trial and error
Just keep trying on clothes and engaging with fashion until it clicks
'good pictures' do not correlate to 'good style'
there have been some shitty pictures of great fits and great pictures of lame fits on here and elsewhere - photo staging is something that can be learned or improved upon if you care about it but is not a requirement
'how everyone found their style' differs because everyone is different; some people have been at it for decades, some people have lots of money, some people have lots of access to skills. this is usually a long journey though, and it's worth not getting discouraged from day to day about it
it doesn't happen overnight for sure
as for photo quality I usually end up having to take like a dozen pics before I find one I like

read the above,
fashion as a hobby is neither a prerequisite nor a stepping stone towards some checklist a person needs to find a date, it’s a means of self-expression or, at minimum, feeling better about how you’re presenting yourself in public
there is a lot of good (i.e. not written by manosphere influencers who want to make you feel bad about yourself) information about there about what makes a “good” dating profile but that is not in the scope of this server
find a therapist or other trusted resource to talk through some of your thoughts and feelings around self presentation
find hobbies you’re genuinely interested in and things to do and you’ll organically meet people (i.e. don’t go to a book club with the explicit intention of finding someone to date)
find inspiration from social media, the various channels in this discord, books on fashion, runways, etc and use that to inform where you want to move towards with your clothes
use the search function to find questions similar to ones you might have and gain insight from those who have asked before
ask specific questions and show up in good faith and you will receive good faith answers
closing this thread as it feels like the core question has been answered
