Wineprefix creation hangs
Hey, I was trying to install the EA App through Lutris (on my Steam Deck running Bazzite). When I go through the wizard, I get through the settings, Lutris downloads the installer exe, and on the "Installing game data" screen, the process hangs. The little Wine window comes up where it says "The Wine configuration in ... is being updated, please wait...", and does not progress (as in, for the last half an hour).
I tried with Heroic launcher, and winetricks as well, with the same issue. I've been able to add the installer as a non-steam game to Steam and force to run it with Proton though. In that case, the installer ran and installed the app, however, any mouse input from the touchpad on the right got ignored while any EA App window was in the foreground. Games also never begin to install, they just get stuck on "2%, preparing...". It also froze my deck and I had to
btrfs rescue zero-log ... from single user mode because I had to power-cycle.
I'm not too familiar with the inner workings of Wine, but I'm assuming either some dependency isn't shipped with Bazzite, my "master" wineprefix is broken in some way (if that's a thing), or there's some permissions issue.0 Replies
