Issues with layering Merkuro
Attempting to layer Merkuro results in a program that won't launch. Running it from the command line gives this error

it complains about qtlocation missing, known fedora bug, it's fixed already, just needs time to get into bazzite

Good to know!
in the meantime you can install qt6-qtlocation
assuming this is the only thing actually missing
can you not use this inside a distrobox?
That was my first thought but i mainly wanted to do this on my host os for the plasma widget integration
The date/time widget has a calendar view that can fetch from a user's calendar and provides a handy
add
button if it finds KOrganizer or Merkuro installed, although frankly having a calendar seems like such basic functionality i don't know why bazzite-kde comes without KOrganizer or Merkuro pre-installedKontact, which is available on the bazaar as a flatpak, also has KOrganizer in it, but this didn't work as it wouldn't allow me to create a new calendar, and it also didn't add this config option to the widget

Layering a package was not my first try at this, i did want to do it the "right" way. But this widget is kind of weird i guess.
yeah the real fix would be to fix the flatpak of kontact I guess

It would be great to use these apps as Flatpaks, and there seems to be one. I heard (didnt look, sorry) that the Kontact Flatpak has Akonadi etc. integrated to make it work. Can the Account database and server run as a Flatpak runtime, and serve multile separate apps? I know that GNOME Calendar Flatpak only works on GNOME as it needs evolutio...
Also, layering KOrganizer does work, but I still needed to copy the
org.kde.korganizer.desktop
file from /usr/share/applications/
to $HOME/.local/share/applications
Made a thread on the KDE forums about this and they seem to agree that the widget needs some work and could just have these features built-in, but yeah.
Seems like calendar stuff on Plasma is just a big mess huh 😅a lot of things on the kde side are just not in a perfect shape yet for systems with read-only /usr
That's a shame, I'm really enjoying plasma, this is the first real hiccup I've had
Oh well, glad to know that the missing dependancy is accounted for. That was my main worry
it's not related to that at all actually, it's just a coincidence

Yeah I'm aware. KOrganizer works just fine, I wasn't actually looking for help with the calendar stuff anymore 😅
Thanks anyway though!
I can't access this one, if you wanted me to read it

might as well give yourself the dev role and shit
Ah, right.
Thanks for the very detailed info
probably also a fedora packaging bug, maybe needs a

for the merkuro stuff somewhereJust to test, I reinstalled Kontact from the Bazaar to see if it would open the calendar that KOrganizer made. Turns out you can make a calender with it, you just need to specify the path yourself to a file that doesn't exist yet. Leaving the field blank to make a new calender probably defaults to somewhere in
/usr
. This still doesn't properly interface with the widget though so 🤷♂️oh btw, this is being worked on upstream

Hey RockSo did you get this to work? I'm struggeling with all the PIM sutff myself. Everything I wanted was to have my nextcloud calendar in KDE plasma
Well no luck with subseqent tries. Screw that I did not come to Bazzite to tinker. I take my business to Thunderbird then.
