bazzite-dx incompatible hardware? (Framework laptop with 11th gen Intel)
I'm using a Framework laptop 13 with 11th gen Intel and in the Bazzite download page it says that my hardware is not supported by the
-deck
image. So I installed the regular one.
Then I rebased to -dx
because I want to use VS Code, and was surprised that it's based on the Bazzite -deck
image.
=> Does it mean my hardware is not supported, like the Bazzite download page said? Which issues should I expect? Or if there are no issues, why does the Bazzite download page say so?

Just to confirm, logging into Steam Gaming Mode worked fine on my 11th gen Intel Framework. And even going back to the desktop from the Steam UI worked fine, no need to restart.
One weird thing is that on the login screen there were two entries for the mode, both with
(Wayland)
. I just tried the first of those....10 Replies
gaming mode actually does work with that hardware as it's based on first gen Xe, pre-ARC (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Xe#Integrated_graphics)
the session on -dx images are not loaded by defult it can be selected at the login screen only
To clarify "Steam Gaming Mode" is just the fullscreen SteamUI-like mode. Your vscode and other stuff (including gaming throug steam) while in desktop mode will be fine.
I do have the mainboard in the official Cooler Master case and might sometimes use it as HTPC, and then maybe with the "Steam Gamging Mode".
it's based on first gen Xe, pre-ARCHm, the dropdown on the Bazzite download page differentiates between
Intel (HD/UHD/Iris)
and Intel (ARC+)
, so where does a pre-ARC fit in?it's a bit confusing but post 11th gen already uses ARC tech, it's completely different from previous
should work alright
as far as Intel can of course
well, if you are not planning to use the gaming mode session it doesn't matter anyway
Ah wait, when I run
fastfetch
I get: Intel Iris Xe Graphics @ 1.30 GHz [Integrated]
Which has "Iris" in the name, so the one which is supposedly not supported.
well, if you are not planning to use the gaming mode session it doesn't matter anywayI might use it, because my mainboard is in the Cooler Master case and I'll probably use it as HTPC every now and then. Should I just try what happens when I select the Steam Gaming Mode during the login screen?
yea
one issue I had is that the exit to desktop mode doesn't work yet in the -dx image
and I'm on AMD
you can rebase to the -deck image for it should be more usable
one issue I had is that the exit to desktop mode doesn't work yet in the -dx imageBut after a reboot I'm at the login screen and can choose the normal desktop again? Or will that be bypassed and there's no way to go back to the desktop at all?
yup, going back to the login screen works well
it just can't exit to desktop without a reboot for now
so kinda works? Just a bit messy
