Confused on automating storage template migration

I am trying to figure out how to run nightly storage template migration because my template includes album name. I found questions on this topic from earlier this year, but the api calls used in those answers have been deprecated. I can't figure out which api calls I am supposed to use in v2.4.0 and newer. Do the new versions run storage template migration automatically? Is that why the api calls for it were deprecated?
